Greetings friends!

Today we will continue to complete the series Birds are the protector of the fores of postage stamps, issued in 1979 in the USSR.

Postage stamps from this series were issued in large editions and had, in addition to their direct purpose, the cancellation of postage, and of an educational nature, they associated the citizens of the USSR with birds, which, according to ornithologists, ensure the clearing of the forest from harmful insects and other pests.

But, to be extremely honest and throw aside some cynicism when defining birds, referring to their useful qualities, then, first of all, you need to divide birds into those who are suitable for people to eat and those who are not of gastronomic interest, lol ...

So, all the birds depicted on the postage stamps from this series will not be able to saturate you and they have nothing to do but please you with the fact that they destroy pests.

A chicken, yes, a simple chicken, is an equally effective orderly who destroys harmful insects and, even mice, if they get in her way.

But, about the chicken, no one says that she is an orderly.

So, on a postage stamp with a face value of 3 kopecks, we see the orderly of the forest - Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos minor).

Really, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos minor), this is a selfless pest fighter, but I think it is primarily due to the fact that he has a good appetite.

Even in cities, you can hear the sound of a woodpecker's beak high in the treetops.

I do not know how this bird does not have a concussion, because it has to hammer through the hard bark of a tree and not only to get to the insect larva hidden nam.

I took these pictures last December when I heard the sound of drumming on wood.

Looking closely, I saw Woodpecker.

Woodpeckers, cautious birds, but if you stand still, they stop paying attention to you and continue to do their job.

On this day, icing occurred.

It was raining heavily and a bitter frost hit, which turned everything around to glass.

Look at the bark of this tree.

Before reaching the bark of the tree, the woodpecker had to break through the ice-hard ice crust.

But, as they say, hunger is not an aunt, the woodpecker continued to work.
