Travel the World of Postage Stamps - 18th International Ornithological Congress - Spoon-billed Sandpiper (Eurynorhynchus pygmeus) - USSR, Soviet Union 1982 - Michel USSR 5183 - my hobby.
Greetings friends!
Our world is very contrasting and, sometimes, it is full of contradictions.
Postage stamps help us dig a little deeper into the history of countries, their economies, their customs and everything that is not alien to people lol.
Today we will continue to complete the series 18th International Ornithological Congress of postage stamps, issued in the USSR in 1982.
The next postage stamp, according to the Mikhel catalog, has a face value of 6 kopecks of the USSR and depicts an endangered species of birds - Spoon-billed Sandpiper (Eurynorhynchus pygmeus).
I started this post with the words about contradictions, this is not accidental.
The ornithological forum implies that there, decisive measures will be taken to save certain species of birds, and this forum was held in Moscow, the capital of the USSR.
There is one Russian proverb "Trust the fox to guard the ducklings, or chickens."
This saying perfectly describes the situation to save birds from extermination at that time.
You need to understand the entire pyramid of the Communist Party, its vastness, from the first secretary of the CPSU to the rank and file of the Communist Party.
Its head was Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev, who, at one time, was a very avid hunter.
All party members strived to be like their leader in this, and the USSR turned into a huge army of hunters who considered the entire territory of the USSR as their hunting grounds.
They hunted for everything, from pigeons to tigers, ate something, and sent something to taxi drivers to make stuffed animals.
Now, think for yourself, could this forum be successful in such conditions?
As I said in the previous post, the most important thing in this event is the banquet!

For my publications, I do not use stock photographs, it is fundamentally important for me to use photographs that I have made with my own hands for publication and I can name them - authorial work.
