Balls are an important part in the growth of both boys and girls, from a very early age our little ones show a very particular interest in them, they get distracted and enjoy playing with balls of any size or material.
Recuerdo cuando era niño y vivía en el campo, yo fabricaba con mis hermanos y amigos pelotas de trapo para jugar beisbol, lo que en Venezuela se conoce como caimaneras, este tipo de pelotas es muy común realizarlas, ya que las pelotas profesionales son costosas y al ser niños no tenemos como costearlas; por otra parte considero que es mucho mas divertido hacerlas uno mismo, es por ello que la tarde de hoy traje un poco de mis recuerdos para compartirlos con mi hijo y lo enseñe a fabricar su propia pelota con trozos de tela vieja.
I remember when I was a child and lived in the countryside, I made with my brothers and friends rag balls to play baseball, what in Venezuela is known as caimaneras, this type of balls is very common to make them, since professional balls are expensive and being children we do not have how to afford them; on the other hand I think it is much more fun to make them yourself, which is why today afternoon I brought some of my memories to share with my son and taught him to make his own ball with pieces of old cloth.
Para su fabricación necesitaremos los siguientes materiales:
-1 pequeña piedra redonda (lo mas redonda que la puedas encontrar).
-Trozos de telas viejas.
-1 media vieja.
-1 tira de tripa de caucho.
-1 aguja e hilo de coser ropa.
To make it we will need the following materials:
-1 small round stone (as round as you can find).
-pieces of old fabric.
-1 old sock.
-1 strip of rubber gut.
-1 needle and thread for sewing clothes.
Fabricación:
Es muy sencilla, primeramente tomamos la piedra y la rodeamos con trozos de telas, dando vueltas y vamos dando forma de bola. Podemos sustituir la piedra por una metra, pero yo quise enseñarle la forma más rudimentaria de hacerla.

Seguidamente tomamos la tira de tripa de caucho e igualmente vamos cubriendo nuestra bola, debes ir dando forma de pelota; esta goma permitirá que esta pelota pueda rebotar un poco y al momento de batearla tenga mayor desempeño.

Posteriormente seguimos colocando un poco mas de trozos de tela, hasta lograr el tamaño deseado.

Ahora colocamos nuestra bola en la media, con un palo de cepillo la empujamos fuertemente para apretarla y lograr tenga mejor desempeño al batearla, damos una pequeña vuelta a la media y volteamos, apretamos nuevamente con el palo y repetimos este procedimiento hasta que termine la media.
Now we place our ball in the sock, with a brush stick we push it strongly to tighten it and achieve better performance when batting it, we give a little turn to the sock and flip it over, we tighten it again with the stick and repeat this procedure until the sock is finished.
Por ultimo con una aguja e hilo de coser, sellamos nuestra pelota, cosiendo bien para evitar que esta se desarme.

Ya nuestra pelota esta lista para jugar beisbol o simplemente para atajar con los amigos; cuando era pequeño hacíamos competencia para ver cual era la pelota con mejor rendimiento, nos divertíamos mucho y mas de una vez me regañaron por llegar a casa sin medias jajaja, en ese momento la inocencia y el sentimiento de competitividad reinaba en la vida de todos, era una diversión muy sana.
Now our ball is ready to play baseball or simply to play catch with friends; when I was little we used to compete to see which ball had the best performance, we had a lot of fun and more than once I was scolded for coming home without socks hahaha, at that time innocence and the feeling of competitiveness reigned in everyone's life, it was a very healthy fun.
Quiero regalar a mis hijos todas mis experiencias y enseñar un poco de ellas, me gusta que mis pequeños compartan con amigos de su edad y tengan una niñez feliz, con amigos de carne y hueso, no solo virtuales; considero que es muy importante lograr lazos de amistad desde pequeños y que puedan quemar cada una de sus etapas, aprender y crear sus propios recuerdos.
