I will now wait for a minute while about... oh... 25% of you to look up "ambergris" on your search engine of choice. Might I recommend the Duck Duck Go browser. I would say closer to 75% of the population of the United States does not know what ambergris is. I went with the 25% figure because Java Jaguar fans are so much smarter than the average American. Actually, I'd say about 25% of my audience is from outside the US anyway, so that is also a factor.

I was going to explain what ambergris is in this space, but no, I'll let you look it up yourselves. The only reason I've heard of it is because I was required to read Moby Dick for an English class at the University of Hawaii.

So, what do you think? Did this joke shoot right over everyone's heads? I think part of the joke is, I doubt the average barista could identify the type of whale sitting in his parking lot...

Oh, also if anyone is in the market for an ambergris product, might I recommend this:

LAUDABLE NADI "White Lion"
White Cotton Musk & Ambergris Perfume Oil, 0.47 oz 14 ml

Thanks for reading! And for supporting the production of quality ambergris products!

Boilerplate:
Java Jaguar is a webcomic based on the true story of a talking jaguar cub found in a coffee shop. Yes, I said based on the true story. Java Jaguar is produced by the nomadic cartoonist, Matt S. Law, on his mobile art studio consisting of Clip Studio Paint Pro on a Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

To read Java Jaguar from the beginning, start HERE.

Created in Clip Studio Paint Pro on a Surface Pro 4. Here is the time lapse video:

I knew what it was and how valuable it is. Every so often you hear of someone finding some on a beach.

I read Moby Dick fairly recently and enjoyed it. You have to hope we never return to that level of whale hunting as we nearly wiped them out.

To the person who stole my copy of Microsoft Office
I will find you. You have my word.

PLAY & EARN $DOOM

Because we have some stupid laws here to protect endangered species, we are not allowed to sell ambergris that washed up on the beach. Just like you are not allowed to keep a raptor feather that you find on the ground. If I find some ambergris on the beach, would you mind laundering it for me in the UK?

Weird fun fact.... I DID know what it was, and I'm pretty damn sure it was due to some odd bit of Dungeons & Dragons trivia I was exposed to as a kid. Maybe I would have learned it later, but hell, I call that a win for D&D!

D&D players also tend to be more intelligent than the average populace. Or at least we just know more weird stuff.

Come on Java, just go find a sperm whale and tell him to cough it up!

And I am still trying to understand what ambergris is
