Yes, my gourd plants are in custody. I should have known not to plant a young tender plant in the yard and not expect a rabbit to eat it.
That is just what happened, two of them are nothing more than a stub.
I really have my doubts about it coming back but I fenced it in anyway.
This is the trellis that I made for the vine to grow on. I have wire around each plant to keep the rabbits from eating any more of them. I have wire on one side and netting on the other side of the trellis, just because that is what I had on hand. The frame is from an old mist house we had and it was laying on the ground, I dug it out and bent it in this shape, we did not glue the joints together when we built it.
Today while doing my weeding I noticed this areca palm had ants in the pot. Next, I got to wondering how the dirt stays stacked this high. When you touch the dirt, it is very light and loose, airy, if you will. How does this stay like this? We have been getting thunderstorms just about every day and we have irrigation that runs for 25 minutes each day. If I stacked soil up like this, it would not stay.
