In this Week 50 of the ZAPFic50 Friday, the prompt "swim" brings to mind individuals who risk their lives for a purpose only they know. The decision seems rational to them. To others, it may be foolhearted.
Below is my story:
Waves pounded their boat as lightning clouded their vision. Their ears echoed thunder.
The Garnetts knew the danger they'd incur going out in the day's forecast.
Searching for missing family members five miles from their cove, the boat started leaking.
The swim back would be dangerous. They had no choice.
