Looking at the process, I wanted to keep the colors and tones as dim as possible because I wanted the result to be a bit creepy, dark and scary. I needed the expression to be seen and felt in the process, the colors, and the outlook. I guess I was able to keep that dim look from the start to finish.
The lion should have been accompanied or chased by some corpse with the owl flying above it, but something felt off so I just had to leave it with the outlook rather.
And funny how I have left this sketch in my draft for months now, about four to five months to be precise💔😂
I finally got the chance to finish it today. I started working and brushing it up yesterday and got to finish today cause of my laziness and lack of time too.
I wasn't focused and had limited time yesterday that's why I couldn't finish this. Today would have been the same but I made up my mind to get this out of my way for the very last time.
And because I didn't want to miss @splinterlands Art Contest for this week.
So let's see what we got in the work process below.
Work Process
The trees were one of the things that wasted my time. Four months ago when I started the sketch, I didn't work well on the outlines, I only rushed over it and didn't get some of the trees looking straight or the lines touching each other, so when trying to fill in the colors and paint it, most trees had an overflow of the colors so I had to undo and then redo the tree layer. I literally erased the trees and started all over again. After that, I worked on the black stripes on the Tiger's skin, even that of the owl.
I then worked on the walkway. I sketched tiny stones and pebbles on the walkway and painted the road grey.
After working on the outlines and stripes with the walkway, I started filling in the corresponding colors and painting the tiger's skin, and the owl too. I also painted the field layout using two different tones of green color on separate layers.
On the field layout I created, I neatly added grasses to it using a fitting color.
After this, I was left to refine areas I had to refine, retouch and work on some surfaces too.
Then in the last step, I made the owl's feather fall off as a result of the force it applied, trying to fly away from the fire effect I created to burn up the forest.
I also created a moving effect for the tiger to indicate its panicky movement too, from the fire as well.
And then I sketched a few bones from the skeleton of a decayed body
And that was it for the sketch that took me months to finally finish or remove from my draft💔😂. I got inspired by this art some months ago by an artist I met on one of the social platforms.
I hope you like my illustration today.
See you guys around and thank you for stopping by!
