Hey everyone! How’s it going?
I'm doing great! I spent this evening creating a new character art that I’m excited to share with you all. While browsing ArtStation, I came across a really cool piece titled Gangster's Boy. It immediately caught my eye with its rough and tough vibe . So why late ... I was started to create my own Gangster's girl .
I started designing my own character, the gangster girl. Shee is modern, stylish, and wields a giant sword slung casually over his shoulder, exuding confidence and power. The original art had a strong and gritty energy that I wanted to carry over to this piece but with a new twist for my character.
I used Illustrator software to bring him to life, and it was quite a journey! From the initial rough sketch to the final polished image, each step was challenging but rewarding. The process started with a basic sketch, focusing on his stance and attitude – making sure he looked confident with that huge sword. I then moved on to the details of his outfit, which consisted of a sleek jacket, shorts, and an interesting color palette that contrasted the fiery glow of the sword.
I paid close attention to the design of the sword, thinking of it as part of his identity - sharp, bold and absent. Layer by layer, I refined her features, adding shading, highlights and textures to give the piece more depth.
Below, I’ve also included some step-by-step process pictures from the rough sketch to the final design so you can see the evolution of this piece. It was a fun challenge and I haven’t posted a GIF process in a while, so I’m excited to share this with you all too ..Let me know what you think in the comments .
