WATCHING OVER YOU
It wasn't that I didn't care.
The nights loomed large each time we parted.
Precious moments passed in hindsight I stare.
Two paths thrust upon the waves less charted.
The fire deep within your soul.
I can't reach nor quench.
Release me, allow me to reach my goal,
you dared me; made me flinch.
Should love hurt like storm clouds that gather?
Threatening to drown us in sorrow.
When will our love fill that which matter?
Leaving us empty as we wake in the morrow.
I know not the answer to erase your longing.
Leaving me with heartbreak.
Leaving us without belonging.
Absorbed in feelings we made a mistake.
Waiting by the shore many days.
I shrink back in the sanctity of the brush,
Then jerk sharp breaths at each form that sways.
Faint my heart has become from the rush.
Only God knows the hurt and pain deep within.
Holding onto the promise washed away by the sand.
I want not for our love to crumble, forcing us to sin.
But you leave me no choice as I steady my hand.
And pray you'll find peace in your wanderings.
As life moves on with memories of the dark shore,
the moon's shadows whispering your name.
I recoil with thoughts of your intoxicating touch
because I no longer desire to succumb.
Still, I watch over you.
For my current mixed media art project, the theme was love lost. I wanted to highlight the struggles couples face when the lure of adventure tears them apart. I share this tragedy in a poem. How can one decide when it's time to let go of a relationship? A difficult decision I must say. And because every situation is different, the circumstances surrounding the relationship should be analyzed with care before making any life changing decision.
For my project, I chose a mix of images. My pure fractals I created in Apophysis 7X, the advanced fractal rendering software. Several free-sourced images I discovered enhanced my theme of love and sorrow. I especially love the compact mirror lodged in a tree branch.

I then utilized Canva to blend the different type images. I leave with you my procedures which begin with a blank, white canvas. I then add layers of elements in accordance with my upgraded Annual Pro Membership that includes tools to remove backgrounds, resize, filter, duplicate, and reposition items as required. Perhaps of all the tools, the ability to remove backgrounds thereby creating transparencies of the images is crucial to the blending process.
I present my completed project:
