In the last few months, I've attempted to improve the backgrounds of my projects. Previously I would focus on the foreground image and be satisfied with a black background. Although my fractal tend to render beautifully on a dark background setting, some are dense enough to withstand lighter tones.
For my current project, my primary focus was to create an interesting and lighter version background image and a less dynamic front image so that it would not overshadow or conflict with it. I tried different combination two-toned colors. For a female image, pink or purple is a lovely choice behind the image.
To balance it out, I chose darker tones for one side of the background. I share with you my result.
In compiling the images for my mixed media art project, I wanted a my model a stable diffusion image from StarryAI. I knew that with my specific description, I would retrieve an awesome facial model.
Below are my steps:
StarryAI Text input:
"Beautiful woman of color, thin lips, close-up face turned to the left, elegant features, beautiful green eyes, face encased in reptilian."
Style: Fantasy
Runtime: 50
Seed: 7855354218
StarryAI Result:
I love the dark green embellishment on the neck and throat as if covered in reptilian slime. With this image, all I need now was a light background and a few accessory images.
For my accessories, I decided upon the following pure fractals I created in Apophysis, the fractal rendering program. My thought was to encase the face and eyes with the fractals to change her appearance. The final image was a free-sourced paintbrush.
To blend all images, I uploaded into Canva, my design program. With Canva, I can colorize, resize, reposition, apply various filters, duplicate, remove backgrounds and manipulate images. Also at my disposal with my upgraded Annual Pro Membership Subscription, I'm able to apply free templates, elements such as frames, and a host of background colors in textures and dual tones.
Below are my procedures.
To a blank, white canvas, I tried several combinations of textures.
Added the stable diffusion female image; removed the background, then repositioned it at the top of the screen.
Duplicated the image to create a full screen shoulder to the bottom of the screen. Then, I added the fractals as accessories to the face and throat.
Finally, I added the other fractals around the female, and the paintbrush. Completed the project.
Below is my completed mixed media art project:
