Hello everyone! I am glad to share with you my first realistic pen drawing.
I used my friend's picture for this work.
Size is 15x20 inches.
I used BIC ballpoint pen and Alabaster paper for this drawing.

I have always wanted to try out pen drawing just to have that experience and know what it's like. I'm really glad that I have finally done it.

Before drawing this portrait, I did some experiment. I try out different pens, techniques, and styles. This helps me discover what works best for me. Here is link to see the techniques I tried. https://hive.blog/hive-156509/@idyharrison/using-to-methods-to-draw-a-sphere For this drawing, I used cross-hatching for layers and finished it with scribbling.
Pen drawing can be unforgiving, as mistakes are not easily corrected. That's another reason I did the experiment.

Drawing this piece, I realised that patience and regular practice are key to improvement.

Steps:

I first did my sketch with 2B graphite pencil then I proceeded to pen. Before then, I studied my reference image to understand details, proportions, and textures.

Pen drawing requires a steady hand and controlled movements.
