My realistic watercolor with tutorial: The warmth of home

in #hive-1565092 years ago

Lami always gives us interesting guiding tasks. To be honest, I've never done one before, but I'm in the mood. The idea was to have a snowy landscape, a window, a pine tree and snowflakes. She didn't say whether it should be an interior or a landscape. Well, I chose the warmth of home, even though I love the snow. And the warmth of a home with a cat sitting on a windowsill is real. My favorites are the Garfield-looking ginger tabby cats.

I have now compiled the phase diagrams and details in a simple table. This makes them much easier to see than the large images below one another.
It is worth clicking on the small pictures to see the details!

It's important to start at the back, with the furthest objects, and paint them ready, then move forward. Sky, mountains, snowy landscape, pine, window frame, wall and windowsill, cat.
I thought it was worth using a masking fluid here.

After thoroughly drying and removing the masking fluid, I started to blend the colours and also applied new, darker shades to the mountains, snowy landscape and pine. The window frames are covered with a little snow on the outside, I worked on those too.

I continued to highlight the lights and darken the shadows. I also worked out the snowflake (see my yesterday post!) Then came the texture of the window frame.

Next came the wall, which has dark and light parts. On the outside you get a reddish-yellowish glow, while the shadows are Payne grey and ultramarine. The cat also got its primary colors.

I worked a lot with the cat's stripes. It's like a mini tiger!
I added a little white watercolor chalk to highlight the texture of the old wall.
The rust on the iron hinges of the window is just an added bonus!

I didn't count the time spent exactly, but it was at least 5 hours, with small breaks!
