There is still no snow anywhere in the area, but foxes are prowling the surrounding villages, stealing chickens. You wouldn't think that such a charming, beautiful animal would do such vile things. I don't have any hens, but if I did, I would put very strong netting around the coop and I have a medium-sized terrier dog. There's nothing wrong with a fox, by the way, if it's in its natural habitat and in the right place. It may catch the weaker rabbits and pheasants, but at least the strong ones survive.
I started with the background, which was a bit abstract, but that's okay, because the focus will be on the fox anyway. I used a lot of water and picked up the paint in a few places with a small dry brush.
With the setting sun illuminating the fox from the front, the snow in the foreground and background is glowing pink.
The beautiful coat of the red fox was not easy to paint. The right tone and shade had to be found. I painted the whole picture with a thick brush with a pointed end, because so far it has worked best for me. I can paint even the thinnest hairs beautifully.
Since I forgot the masking fluid, I painted the snow on the fox afterwards, first with white tempera. But it turned out rather grey, so I also went over it with white gel pen.
