Today I realized with horror that I still have not painted, perhaps one of the most striking figures - Medusa (do not even ask me why this happened, I do not know)!
And as you already know, I love Greek mythology very much.
I am sad that this character is demonized and often associated with the image of a terrible villain who turns everyone to stone. Not many remember the legend itself and the original image of Medusa.
Medusa Gorgon, my character drawing
More details)
Behind the terrible villain initially hid a pretty girl with beautiful hair, which Poseidon raped in the temple of the goddess Athena, where Medusa rushed in search of protection from Poseidon's persecution. The gods were angry at Medusa for desecrating the temple and ordered Athena to punish her. Athena turned her hair into a snakes and made her face so terrible that only one look at her turned the viewer into a stone.
Medusa's end is also sad - do everyone remember these paintings with Medusa's head chopped off?
In my drawing, I wanted to correct this injustice. Let it not fit into the framework of "understandable" beauty, but here she is beautiful, calm and in love!
