It's that time of the week again when we get creative and share it with the community simply for the love of it. It's been more exciting to prepare contents for creative Sunday now as I do learn new things because of it.
After the last recipe I shared, I decided to try another beautiful recipe I fell in love with. I've become a fan of Tiktok videos and even my WhatsApp statuses because of new food recipes and I came across this recipe I would love to share here.
The name is Okro soup - Not prepared in the regular way many including myself do but in a special way as I've called it.
To be honest, there are not many options of soup delicacies I prepare at home and that is simply because I've not tried to diversify in the kind of soups I prepare. We just enjoy the few ones I know best but I've been exploring more options to enjoy great tastes. This soup came in handy for and I didn't waste much time to try it out.
So I made efforts to get a record while I made the Okro Soup and the video shows how it was prepared.
Ingredients used:
- Okro
- Tomatoes and pepper
- Chicken
- Dried catfish
- Ponmo
- Garden egg leaves
- Palm oil
- Crayfish
- Perewinkle
- Stockfish
- Onions
- Salt and maggi
Some of the ingredients used this time are not so cheap but quite affordable if you really want to enjoy the taste. Ingredients like Chicken, Perewinkle, Ponmo, dried fish and stock fish can be improvised to your own choice or budget, the soup will still taste good if you follow the process. You can't improvise the other ingredients so make sure you have them ready if you want to make this recipe.
The process is explained in the video but to have a brief write up on how to go about it, I'll share them in a few steps.
Steps to prepare Okro soup
- Prepare your ingredients
I cleaned and steamed the chicken and Ponmo together. - Pour your palm oil into a heated pot, add salt and onions.
- Pour in your grinded tomatoes and pepper and allow to boil
- Add your stock and dried fish to make it taste into your sauce.
- Add your maggi and salt to taste
- Pour in your grated Okro, Perewinkle, chicken, Ponmo and vegetables
- Allow the soup to boil for a few minutes before taking it off the heat.
And your Okro Soup is ready to be eaten with Eba (Garri) or fufu or Amala or any swallow option you have, I used fufu to enjoy mine. The taste was amazing especially with the dried fish and chicken in it hehe.
You should try this recipe, a feedback on it would be lovely but I bet it'd be a good feedback. Let me know what you think about this recipe, would you try it out?
