Hair Band DIY

Hello everyone, happy new year!!

So today I'll be sharing this beautiful hairband I made.

I love hairbands because they're easy to put on and carry about. I'm someone that loves wearing scarf alot and most a times, I find it very difficult tying scarf.

So when I realized that I could actually make hairbands and put on, I was so excited about it. And as for now, this is my favorite hairband so far. I love how simple and beautiful it looks on me.

So this is the final looks. Let's get into the whole process

Tools

  1. Ankara Fabric
  2. Scissors
  3. Tape
  4. Pins
  5. Elastic
  6. Thread
  7. Chalk

Procedure

I cut out 2 piece of length 21cm and width 3.5cm of the Ankara fabric then I cut out a 1 piece of length 6cm and width 1.5cm.

The length depends on the size of your head. When I measured mine, it was 23cm but since I'll be including an elastic, I reduced 2cm making it 21cm.

The width of the band depends on how wide you wants it.

My elastic band is 1cm in width. I made the length 3cm since I'll be including a stitching allowance.

These are the 3piece cut out.

Firstly, I stitched the length of all 3 of them to create a tunnel.

I used my scissors to turn out the right side. You can use any sharp object for that if your scissors is too big

At this point, I had Finnished turning out the right side of all three of them.

I used a pin to hold your elastic band like this to be able to insert the elastic into the tunnel I created

I then insert it into the shortest piece. Stitch one end of it with my sewing machine and bring out the elastic band from the other end and stitch to close up both ends with the elastic band inside the fabric.

I took the other two pieces and cross them together like this.

After I was done crossing it, I took one end of the fabric and joined to the other.

I attached the elastic to the other end of the twisted fabric as seen, folded the two ends then stitch. Did same for the other end.

When I was done stitching, I turned it inside out and my hairband was ready.

I was able to make this in less than 20min.

For those that don't want their hair to fall on their faces, this is a great idea for you.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope someone will try it out.
