It's been exactly a week since I planted some bitter gourd seeds that I took while preparing our dish before. I just thought of drying them and eventually planting them and hoped that it would work... guess what? It actually did!
Last Wednesday, I planted these seeds in some of our makeshift pots at home. As you can see in the picture, I've already placed some on the soil and the ones on my palm, I also planted in a separate makeshift pot.
Last Saturday, I was checking them out... just trying to see if there's any progress and I was delighted to see this.
I didn't really bury the seeds that much in this container, though I did so in the other one. As you may have observed, the seeds broke in two, and you can see tiny root-like structure coming out of it.
On Monday, they already look like this. Though the seeds' shells are still attached, the sprouts are actually forming and are more visible.
The ones I buried in soil which I placed in this container also started sprouting last Monday. <3 It hasn't even been a week then, but I'm seeing much progress. It's so interesting that it made me and my parents excited. We have already started planning the things we have to do once these grew even more.
Bitter gourds are vines, so it would be different from our other vegetables that we simply planted in pots. We'd need more space for it to grow and spread.
Finally, one week after I planted the seeds, they're already like this. They've grown this big in just one week... and there are even smaller ones which just started to sprout as well. One of the sprouts in the last picture even has a bit defined leaf than the others.
I wonder how they would look like next week. I'll try to record and monitor their progress and share here. I'm excited to have some bitter gourd growing in our garden since we all love eating it at home.
BONUS PHOTO:
These are two dwarf papaya seedlings. We had the others planted in the community garden, but we kept these at home. We're going to re-plant these soon the same way we did to our guava seedlings. Soon, we'll have small papaya and guava trees at home. I also want to have our own small calamansi tree at home... I need to get some seeds to dry and germinate. I wonder if papa saved me some seeds. He squeezed some calamansi earlier for us to make some juice. I hope he did. haha
Anyway, I'll end this post here. Thanks a lot for checking and I'll see you in the next garden update! Have a great one!
