Even without technology, humans were always resourceful in dealing with things to make things easier and faster. Well, from the very beginning, technologies exist because of us. Though most of it took a step-by-step process. It started from scratch as always and then found ways later how not to.
I knew it obviously, how many times I’ve seen Filipinos plowing fields using carabao and one person as a guide. It’s just that it was fun to see these children doing it. Just so you know before you react about underage laboring. They were cousin and they lived under the same roof. The father of one boy was the one who told them to do so. Maybe they were being trained or asked him for help. We don’t know for sure but it’s a family matter I guess.
Usually, when someone uses a carabao in plowing a field there’s a tool being by the carabao and the person who holds the tie of the carabao holding it. The person makes sure the tool will not just be pulled from different sides. It should be followed along the carabao and that, a field will be plowed like it’s the perfect soil the plants should need.
I just gave you an idea of why farmers plowed their fields before planting plants. However, in this case, it was not like that. They were in the rice field and it was already being watered. Yeah, the purpose was not to plow field but to flat instead. In my previous video, sorry it was so long ago that I could not find it already. I mentioned that the level of lands, of course, in water as well, they should be level so that there will be no place for the field will have more water or less water. The water should be fair to everyone so that every rice plant will have good growth.
I almost forgot, the carabao being pulled this time with the other child while holding it was a piece of flat wood. They were walking around the field to make sure every part of the fields was the same water level. And oh, about why two persons were guiding the carabao because from what I heard only one person was to guide the carabao in plowing field. There were two (2) children because the children didn’t have that strength like an adult. The one was holding the carabao like he was the one who tamed the carabao to follow his orders. The other one was holding the wood to make sure it would not be thrown away.
This is how plowing fields in the old way through the help of Carabao. It was not that easy doing it for a day. So, let’s be thankful for technology and wealth that we could do it not in a hard way this time.
