There are many processes when taking care of the rice fields. Just like when working on land I guess but taking a rice field is quite different. If you’re not used to working in a rice field you will have no idea what to do. Just like me, since I grew up with a farmer father but root crops were the ones we planted or worked for to have food on the table.
So, “PILAPIL” is the one that you can find on the side of every block of the rice field. At first thought, it was just a pathway to avoid stepping in the rice fields where rice crops were planted already.
A “PILAPIL” is created to make sure the clay and the water will stay in the block. It is as if the boundary of every block but actually its purpose is to prevent water and clay from going out which will be a bad thing for a block.
You see, water is very important. It's like a main dish or the main thing that a rice crop needs. Unlike other crops, rice crops will die when there’s no water remaining in that block. That’s why when we see rice fields, we see water all over it like a small river.
Although, after the previous season of harvesting rice. The block got changed, I’m not sure why but maybe because it was left unattended. They’re more focused on taking care of the growth of rice crops. So when the planting season of rice comes, the process from the beginning starts again. You can understand it in the images of how they’d done it.

Removing grasses and then building “PILAPIL” at the side of the block. The clay inside the block will be the one to get it under and place it beside the block. There’s no foundation but clay will get harder and will not be easy to deform when that happens.
Oh, before I forget, there’s a small hole in every block where the water can flow out. Yes, the water should be replaced with a new one when wetting the rice crops. The hole will just be opened when intentionally done, depending on the time the owner desires.
