Wisdom of 12 Shiva Jyotirlingas - My #artwork

in #hive-1484414 months ago

Lord Shiva has a greater influence on many indians. Some say that worshipping Shiva with devotion can help you develop his traits and attributes, such as detachment from worldly desires. There are many ways people offers their devotion to the lord. And i tried my best to deaw the 12 jyotirlingas on a piece of paper.

Lord shiva is considered to be the destroyer. As per hindu mythology there are 12 jyotirlingas across different states of India, where the lord is worshipped. The 12 Jyotirlingas are shrines of Lord Shiva in India that each have their own significance. According to the Shiv Mahapuran, worshipping all 12 Jyotirlingas can help people get rid of their sins and achieve success in life. Some believe that visiting all 12 will bring peace, happiness, knowledge, wealth, and prosperity.

I tried to draw the 12 jyotirlingas, with my paint and brush. I started my drawing with Nandi - The bull, who is closely associated with Lord Shiva.

Nandi is Shiva's animal form, means of transportation, and most devoted worshiper. His name means "giving delight" or "giving joy". Nandi is also the guardian deity of Kailash, Shiva's home, and stone images of a seated Nandi facing the main shrine are found in almost all Shiva temples. Nandi embodies strength, endurance, and unwavering devotion, and is significant in religious beliefs and practices.

So i try to shape it as much as possible.

At the end, I drew the Snake who is considered to be "sheshnag"

Sheshnag is often depicted as a canopy protecting and guarding Nandi. Snakes are also associated with Shiva himself, who is often depicted with snakes around his neck, especially when he is in Kailasa (Himalaya). The snake around Shiva's neck can symbolize the endless cycle of birth and regeneration, or ego that can be worn as an ornament once controlled. It may also have scientific significance, as the vishuddhi chakra, which is located in the throat and is associated with stopping poison, is strongly connected to snakes

The final steps involves, drawing the differrnt temple and shivlings.

I am sure, the outcome is not as expected. There are many things missing, but the piece is made with pure heart and I must pray to lord shiva to forgive in case of any mistakes.

Learning is Passion!!

Jai Mahadev, wonderful to hear your story. Nandi is the bull carrier of Shiva Shambhu.

"Vaishnavanam yatha shambu" the Vedas mention how Shiva meditates on Lord Rama, and is the greatest Vaishnava, or Rama bhakta.

R u an Indian ? You have so deep insight about Hindu mythology

No I'm born and raised in South Africa but I entered the ashram at age 19 and trained there as a brahmachari (celibate monk) for 10 years, studying sanatana dharma, Bhagavad Gita, and brahminical practice. So I'm a hindu lol.
