We needed a table in our small kitchen. My wife said, it would be much easier for her to work especially when she cook cakes, because it will be more room for her to store the dough.
I never made a table in my life, so I asked for help from my cousin. But first, I measured the space in the kitchen where the table would be placed. When I had an idea of its size, I continued to draw (Disclaimer: I am not good at drawing!) the table with the measurement so it fitted in the space.
I went to the wood shop near by with my cousin to get some small cut wood for. I spent about USD 1 to get 3 pieces of wood which is 3 meter long each.
I also needed nails, and bamboo which was supplied by my cousin. He also gave me some plywood board that he did not use any more.
My task was to cut the bamboo, and refined the cuts by a machete. These bamboo would be attached on the table top.
My cousin cut the wood we just bought based on the measurement I gave. Then nailed them together and with the bamboo into a rectangle shape.
On top of it, we attached the plywood board. Since the plywood board was too small by itself to cover the entire surface, we cut the plywood into several tiles to cover all the table surface.
Next, we added legs for this table top.
To make the table stand firm, we put the second rectangle shape we made from wood and bamboo near the table bottom. We secured it with nails to the table legs.
And the table was done. It looks strong enough for things in the kitchen. My cousin's wife suggested to cover the table with plastics. So, my cousin put a used rice sack made of plastics on the table.
Finally, I said thanks to them for the help. My wife and I carried table to our home. We placed it in the kitchen like we planned.
Not bad for a one-dollar-table.
