This was an interesting experiment!
Thornless Blackberries can be easy to propagate, but HOW EASY can they be. When the long stems touch the soil, they send out roots, so the plants can spread and propagate easily if left untended. Using this information, I began propagating with unrooted stem cuttings, with reasonable success.
In this video, I compare planting rooted cuttings versus unrooted stems, where I simply place them in the soil and leave them to fend for themselves. While I did not expect a massive drought during this experiment, it certainly helped prove just how massively these plants want to live. Enjoy the show!
