Homestead life is new to me after moving from the suburbs for all of my life. A part of me always had a longing to return to my homestead roots and reconnect with nature and the world we often take for granted. It feels there's been a huge disconnect in the world we live in today about where our food comes from. That's something I want to restore in my life and share with others.

The views here are simply breathtaking. Out in the yard doing some light work watching the sunset has been one of the most peaceful ways to just enjoy life and all that's been created.

The chickens are now laying eggs, one laid a massive on lol It ended up being a double yolker which I had for breakfast with some bread and bacon. YUM Bacon! The lake views beautiful and are so much fun and the dogs enjoy jumping in for a swim to cool off during these hot days. The bees have been buzzing around growing their hives. I'm hoping one moves into the 3rd stake which will be the honey I harvest. I have a feeling I'll be waiting till next year.

My cow Moo who's a recent addition to the homestead just had her last milking as I prepare her for having her baby. This will be her 6th but my first ever as I adopted her from a good dairy farm that was downsizing. I'm a little sad about her last day of milking. Her and I really started to build a connection with our morning routine as she came skipping in excited tail wagging. In about 3 months she will be back on routine again but this time with a new family member to keep her company. Do you think she will have a boy or a girl?

Congratulations on the move. Looks like you are putting together some essential content about this lifestyle. Glad we found you!

Thank you for dropping by. Glad you enjoy the content, much more to come :)

Nice, very nice! Congratulations!

thank you

You are welcome!

I see you are new to the HIVE blockchain. Are you active in any Discord Community?

We also have a small homestead. Looks like your cow is smiling! Ha! We are about to let ours dry out too so that she can prepare to have a baby. Hoping for a girl. This will be her second, but her first died in delivery. Yea for eggs! I have a lot of chickens but they don't seem to want to lay...perhaps I don't feed them enough. Glad to have just found you on the hot posts and now I follow you!

lol she's a funny one. I'm glad she's warmed up to me so quickly. I'm hoping for a girl as well. Double the milk! Hold old are you chickens and do you know what type they are?

I have all kinds of chickens. Not sure of the age of any of them really. Ha! Some are just the mutts I can get at the local feed store - meat or layers. We are in rainy season now, so it's cloudy a lot of the day too. I usually get more eggs in dry season - they like that weather way better! Ha!

You are lucky! I also really want to live in such a place! I'm working towards financial independence and I'm moving right away. 👋

Was there anything in particular which prompted the 'return' to the homestead life?

Not any one thing in particular. It was a combination of many things which started with me building my own raised garden bed at my old house. From there I started listening to podcasts, foods, the way animals are raised and so on and over time it's become a new passion of mine which I've really come to love.
