Hello Everyone,

This morning was a busy one, as I successfully identified all of the males and females in the cannabis flowering tent.

I decided not to waste any time and removed all of the males right away.

This time I will not be seeding the females and have plenty of seeds and a successful line of clones.

I don't have much grow space available and wanted to get a good measure on how much available soil I have for future grows and other plants I'm growing, so I feel this was the right choice for this grow.

With the three males removed, I now have the perfect amount of space for the two remaining plants to flower.

The big plant is a Big Mack Superstar, and the smaller one is a Miracle Mack.

I'm super happy with this and I think we should not be worried that one plant is smaller. Sometimes small plants will still pack some impressive buds. My optimism is high with this grow.

With some help from @derangedvisions, I pulled some upper foliage down under the netting to spread and re-direct growth. This is a technique I'm unfamiliar with because I've never used netting before. Thank you @derangedvisions for taking the time to explain it and help me learn something new. It seems like a super effective method for getting the canopy spread out and efficient.

The stem systems on these are decent. The smaller plant took some damage at some point, but I don't think it will cause any issues for her flowering cycle. The large plant has a super fat healthy stalk and I expect her to produce giant buds.

I'm going to strengthen up the netting either tonight or maybe tomorrow by reinforcing it with some more twine.

That's it for today.

What do you all think of how these cannabis plants are looking?

I would love to read your thoughts in the comment section!

Thank you for stopping by,

Have a great day! -@futuremind

Are the male plants of no value? Back in the day, we smoked everything. No one cared if the plants were male or female. Lots of seeds, but not really any buds to speak of. Do you just throw them out?

So the netting is for support? How does this promote bud growth? They've grown so much since you put that netting in just a couple days ago!

Hey @owasco!

Yes the males provide the value of pollinating the females. If not pollenating, just throw them out. (after pollination they are usually thrown out as well.)
I've pollenated once, it was pretty easy and straight forward. Just brush the pollen onto the pistils where the buds will start forming. That's all it takes.

Male plants do not produce bud that can be smoked, only little pollen sacks that contain the pollen. They produce no bud at all. If you see a plant with pollen sacks and bud forming, this is a hermaphrodite plant, which starts as female. Male plants do not turn both, but female plants can and sometimes do from being stressed, either by light cycle interruptions, or physical stressors .

If you had bud with seeds in it, that means it was a female plant that was pollenated and caused it to create seeds. If it was super heavy with seeds and barely any bud, it sounds like an intentional rip off, or maybe just super "bottom of the bag" stuff.

So the netting is for support? How does this promote bud growth?

Yes it helps support the buds when they become too top heavy and would otherwise tip over, and this support also let's the plant know it is supported which promotes heavier growth.

I've never tried this method before so it will be interesting to see if the difference is substantial.

Thank you for the kind words and intuitive interest in learning more about cannabis my friend!

There's so much to know! If I put this much effort into my vegetable garden, I'll bet I could feed my whole block. Hopefully, I won't have to.

Yeah, we might have to when the zombies realize we were right :D

I had a zombie call me today to apoligize for being hateful to me two years ago! So yeah, some of them are coming around.

lol

She was right.....

Watch out for zombies in the garden this year....

All these plants look great and I applaud you for the way you take care of them, there is no doubt that you have a lot of knowledge about plants and you are true lover of plants as well.

Thank you for the kind words! I love all plants yes :)

I've got a nasty comment when I saw the title, but refrain from letting it out immediately due to #nsfw 🤣 unfortunately, you haven't been posting for a week, so I weren't able to wait until it sunk by new post.

Sometimes I like to plant seeds of thought like that :D
It could be #nsfw in another context I suppose :D
Yes I always fall off with posting, crazy stuff going on that distracts me.

Your gardening is impressive and the plants are gorgeous. Still I think the best picture here is of you. Your enthusiasm and cheer are contagious.😇

Thank you @agmoore, you're comment puts a big smile on my face while reading it! 😊
The plants help keep the joy alive. I'll have to do an update post on the other plants I have growing soon.😀

I will look for those pictures. If we ever move (it's been a year in the trying!!) I might like to grow a plant or two. It is legal now in New York (that does matter to me because I worry about such things and anxiety is bad for me😆).

oh nice fact! thanks for sharing...

Thank you my friend!

You're welcome. I always look forward for your posts.

An interesting way with a grid, I have not heard of this. I'll try it too if I get a chance. Good luck

Thank you @magnata!
IT's a tried and true method with cannabis cultivation. This is my first time trying it and am super excited to see how it's going to work out :)

Looking forward to seeing those buds!

Won't be very long! :D

I’m glad I could help a bit with the netting. Check this video out for a more detailed explanation on how to do it. I can’t wait to see what you get with this grow if you incorporate these techniques.

Thanks again bro,
This video is super awesome and helpful too!
Did a little more work on the net, it's pretty tight now.

Glad you liked it. That YouTube channel is where I get a lot of my tips from. That dude knows what he is doing.

Where are you going broh? 😶

I'm not going anywhere bro, just haven't been posting lately. I'm planning to start back up again though.
