School will be starting today. That's maybe why I was determined stay up after waking up from the noise the cat made in attempt to steal our food.
It's still 4 am right now and I lost a few minutes attempting to upload a video to be incorporated in this post. Have you tried it Uploading videos here?
The school supplies have gotten more expensive: not because it got more expensive on the production process but because the merchants taking advantage of the season. Notebooks now cost 20 pesos and some merchants sell them at higher prices.
A few weeks ago, my husband went to the Town and saw more cheaper notebooks and took the initiative to buy some not only for our daughter but also for his nieces and one of his boxers.
The kids were very excited for school and on Sunday, while waiting for my laundry to finish spinning in the washing machine, I took my time sewing the notebook with yarn to reinforce it. Notice what happens to spring bound notebooks after a few months of use? I bet you don't like it and so do I.
To begin with, I gathered the notebooks and materials needed for my new project. Yarn, scissors, crochet hook( because I thought it works pretty well with notebooks, and since I will be working with wires, I also took my husband's pliers.
The notebooks look impressive! It has a rainbow color! Way back in my time, the covers of the notebooks were printed with the faces of showbizz personalities and I had a hard time finding a plain one. Whenever I don't have a choice, I cover them with something that suits my preference.
It was cool to use my crochet hook on sewing but I had a problem with completing the stitches I skipped so I resorted to the old way of sewing and used the wire I took off as a makeshift needle.
I remember so well way back in my earlier days, I and my sister used to do this before school started. I only used to watch her do her thing and ask how this and that works and did my notebook on my own.
Sewing with the wire was tricky because I needed to position the smaller end to where there was no yarn and had to pull the old yarn down to make way.
I was not even happy with my first attempt with the green notebook.
While doing my work, I had this little man as my lovely disturbance. He asked for milk and requested me to lie beside him as he watched videos on the phone. I loved to but I had so many things waiting to get done by me.
Another disturbance I had was the prankster rain. While sewing, the roof sounded like rain and I had to run outside to take my laundry off. I washed all the sheets in the morning and if rain will get them wet again, we won't have anything to use at night.
Yet look at the cloud that brought a quick rain, it looks marvelous!
Then lunch came and so I did not finish my sewing; I had to cater our hungry stomachs and the little man requested porridge. The daughters came at 1 on the afternoon, they are starving already!
After lunch, I put my son to sleep in attempt to have a nap but my brain just won't even if my body is too tired from all the work. I asked the kids to help me and they were so happy to help.
As the kids helped me, I took a video of them and cut some of their parts using Inshot video editor the I took screenshots for me to upload.
Aelie has a similar attitude as mine before, she gives up on things so easily while Laling was patiently waiting for me to give her needle and yarn, learned from her mistakes, and moved on.
I don't spend time with them much and it was hard for me to deal with my daughter's attitude, honestly. It was hard and it's the price I had oto pay for leaving them for work,.
Anyway, it's very nice for us to bond and help each other to make things happen. I did the sewing after they did the first part but it's okay, They are still very young and they still have a lot to learn in life and in dealing with the challenges they face everyday.
Laling doesn't need to use notebooks yet but was very happy to help. Now they are at school and took the first day. I hope they both had a good time and I hope so did kuya bossing.
It's now 3 in the afternoon and it took me so many hours of writing on and off. I was challenged by a slow internet connection earlier and had to help prepare the kids to school as well as finish my work.
How about you, what preparations do you do before school?
I noticed a lot of educators here and I hope you are having a good time today. meeting new people is stressful for me and I hope you are all cool about it.
Even on PC with a strong internet connection, I still have trouble uploading photos. Is there a problem somewhere or just my gadgets too old to do things already? I can't even see the preview of the photos I uploaded and it slows me even more.
That will be all for now, I hope to hear from all of you.Keep safe and stay happy
