I've been enjoying the kitchen more these days because of the air fryer. My parents are even laughing because I've been volunteering to cook whenever I have extra time. Well, why not? The reason why I dislike cooking was because of the scary hot cooking oil, but now, I need not worry about that. haha
Despite that, I won't be sharing some of the dishes I made recently. Rather, I'm going to share my experience in making banana cake.
Banana cake is my papa's favorite and I think it's one of the easiest and simplest ones to make, and so I gave it a shot. I documented the first time I made it, but to be honest, I've made it a couple more times since then. haha I guess my parents loved it!
LET'S START!!!!
These were the ingredients I prepared for the banana cake:
- bananas (2)
- All-purpose flour (1/2 cup)
- baking powder (1 tbsp)
- baking soda (1/2 tsp)
- brown sugar (1/2 cup)
- salt (1/2 tsp)
- vanilla extract (1tbsp)
- canola oil (5 tbsp)
- eggs (2)
- pili nuts (optional)
- raisins (optional)
Once I've prepared the ingredients and the stuff I need, I started with the procedure...
Firstly, we have to mash these babies. The riper it is, the better and easier to mash. It's also sweeter if it's overripe. :)
Once the banana is ready, I added some oil, eggs and vanilla extract. Then, mix... mix... mix... The vanilla extract smells so good!!! I like it! haha
After mixing, let's add the dry ingredients individually. I started with the flour, then the brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and lastly the salt. Once they're all in, I combined them slowly, but I was careful not to over mix.
After transferring it in the foil container (I use this because I have no baking pan. haha.. it works anyway, so it's all good!), I'm now ready to add some toppings. I just added some pili nuts and raisins the first time I made it... but the second (and so on) time, I also added some bits of the dark chocolate I have in the fridge. haha
While doing so, I also pre-heated the air fryer at 160 degrees Celsius for 3 minutes.
After it was all set, I placed it in the air fryer set at 160 degrees Celsius. I initially set it for 30 minutes, but after checking, it was already good to go after about 25 minutes, so I just took it out.
We just let it cool for a couple minutes before transferring it on a plate... and then, we attacked! It was so good! I'm so happy to successfully make it on my first try... My parents loved it, too! They've requested me to make it a couple times now... so, I told them, I'd make something every day off (Sunday). haha
I actually made three batches last Sunday because papa had some visitors and we also wanted to eat it. haha
Also, I had to run an errand today so I took a day off... and ended up making some mango cake a while ago (as requested by mama)... I'll share about it next time. I might make it again this coming Sunday since tomorrow is a work day. XD
Oh well! Thanks for checking this out! See you around and stay tuned for more air fryer diary entries! (^^,)/
