As I walked rode stopped and waited. I took a few photos that have no overall theme or reason, they were just photos to take as I wandered the area. We shall now look at some of these pictures with some description.
My time in the northern Vietnam they smoke a bamboo water piper that is called "Dieu Cay" which is a water pipe made out of bamboo. But in this case this man was taking the tobacco known as Thuoc lao, and rolled this to be smoked. Thuoc Lao literally means “drug from Laos”. It is to aid in digestion and is smoked by many. Distinct flavour and aroma that is sweet and bitter to the nose. I sat and watched chatted and hung around as this old timer rolled away and laughed at the day.
Here we come across quite a famous bridge. There is much history to who built this bridge and how it was maintained. The lore is steeped in history and infighting and war and peace, this bridge is something of an icon in this town.
As you can see as I approach how the intricacies of the bridge change and became present an front in the frame.
The last photos is best...it has the flag waving and you can make out who is victoriously raising the flag over this structure.
Lets have a look at a bot in the water now...not on the hard and waiting but in the ocean and ready to take you where you would like to go. There is quite an intricate system of waterways here and around town and in particular this are in Vietnam. These waterways enabled this area to be come a large import export are due to the multitude of possible ways boats could come and go to this town/ province.
As they load the boat there is still more to see and I wader away just as easily as they boat drifts out to sea.
A three wheeled motorcycle that was nice to see.
It is time to sit and have some food. I find the shop that has some people inside and decide to sit there and eat what ever is served. I do I sit and eat and others come and go.
The shopkeeper eats now too. Separate and together we sit and eat not saying anything.
How they can use an alley way to make a business that sells food and other things is quite impressive. I like how there is a use of space and place in this country. They are not already to make a go at life anyways they can and by using the area they have around them to do so. This is what entrepreneurs do.
It is time to wader on and away from this alley that I have come across a few times from different streets and they all lead back here, hence why I stopped an ate....it seemed as thought this was they place my stomach wanted to go.
As I ride away I am stopped at an informal stopped that enables me to take this picture.
I can get off two
Oh kay three...
can I get four
And then it is gone everyone shifts and speeds away. But that moment as the child and mother stopped and waited beside me, they had energy and a glow that is not in the pictures but sensed by myself as they cam to a stop. I took this picture of them to hold that moment in time.
Night time comes along faster then I expected. I sit and have some tea and a snack as I watch the vibe of the night life change into that of bustle and go party and fro.
Now people in the street a small dance and then leave before the cars come.
That concludes the night and day. It has been a nice time wandering around and checking out this place. More will come soon enough but today it is time to go to sleep after a long day of wandering.
These pictures were taken around the town of Hoi An, the artist merchant tailor town that has kept its reputation for being a place that bring magic to the streets and place as people go around this town. It was a place to check out and worth stopping for a few day. A very touristy town and indented with people from other countries. A place that is not the best town to experience the Vietnam of the North and South. Still worth checking out this place one needs juxtaposition of this town to other town in Vietnam to recognise that this place has become ore for tourists then holding to a culture that is relevant. Have you been here, have you explored the area outside your back door?
- Thanks for having a look at some pictures as I wander the streets of this town in Vietnam. The journey shall continue as the road is long and goes on for ever and ever and when it peters out, you can still walk it.
Check out Pinmapple for my map of places that I have been and will go back to in time.
