First and foremost I want to greet everyone a goodevening to all and goodmorning to those on the other place. I hope you had a great day so far.
To start this garden journal this thursday I just want to say that we're so blessed this day and everyday ofcourse. Why I can say that? Ir's because in gardening or planting harvesting is one of the most awaited moment and I will not get tired to say that this moment is the best in all process of growing different varieties of plants in our garden.
Everyone out there who cultivates the land can agree to this for sure. Well who won't right?
And speaking of harvesting, we harvested the cassava plant of my late grandfather beside the irrigation and we were surprised to see and dug big cassavas.
Since my grandpa passed away, we disn't have the courage to harvest his cassava plants since it hurts us. We just want to grow and grow but this time, I got the courage to try and dug not to deep in it's stem. As the bolo penetrates the soil, I stabbed something and it's sound is like a flesh. I uncovered the soil to see more and I saw a big one.
This is the cassava that I saw and look how gigantic is that. I can't believed that something like this is before my eyes. It's like a dangerous bomb in size and shape hihi but I'm glad that it's not.
Here are the other cassvas that we harvest and it's truly a bountiful harvest.
Moving on...
The seeds of ladies' finger that I isolated on a plastic container has sprouted and it's an indication that it's ready to be planted. As you can see in the photo they grew roots already.
This variety of ladies' finger is the one I'm longing to have since I saw the plants beside the road the other day. My grandma was able to asked some seeds from a gardener here in our place.
I isolated the seeds for 2 days and look how fast they grew roots.
Why I'm doing this? To make sure the seeds are good and to make sure that the plant will not die. I do this after I experienced a lot of failure in trying to grow ladies' finger through direct planting to the soil. It end up withering and due to some bad fungus within the soil.
I planted them once again in recycled plastic containers that we asked from our neighbor here.
The same process just like the last time, I cut off the upper part of the countainer leaving me the desired body that will serve as a pot for my plants.
After that I mixed organic soil and rice hull to have the perfect soil for my plants. Then I filled the containers as you can see in the photo.
This time I just planted 6 of the seeds using the container and I will plant the others in the soil tomorrow. I just want to see what is better.
Through my playful mind I came up with that hihi. I just want to show that there's so much fun in planting. It can relieve you from your stress, believe me.
Important Updates.
The seed of squash and bottle gourd has finally sprouted as you can see in the photo and I'm so happy about it.
Not just that but because of this also. Those are the lagundi that I grew from it's seeds. I thinks it's been a month already since they sprouted. They enjoyed being in the dark lol. Well they are not just that easy to grow.
In addition to that, the lima beans that I planted has been in flowering stage already and as you can see in the photo that it has baby beans already that succeeded in developing.
Lastly but not the least, I'm able to harvest mulberries this day and there's lot up there but I left it for the birds. They are sweet and delicious, perfect dessert after a meal or for a snack.
And that's how my day went again my fellow hivers at the same time gardeners. All I can say is that it's truly womderful that I'm able to cultivate the land with my green thumb.
Thank you for reading.
-Plant,plant and you'll survive.
