Hello my dear friends here on Hive. How are you so far today? I hope you're doing good. It's been a while again since I talked about my garden and here's one experience that I will share again.
Have you ever eaten or saw a gabi (filipino) or taro (english) ? You can see it mostly in the province and there's alot here in our place. This one is serve as viand here and it's one of my favorite dish. It's just so easy to cook but the preparation requires a lot of work if there's a lot but if not then it's just easy.
Our plants in the field is already good to harvest that's why I did it today. Together with my cousin we went to the area and gathered some.
As you can see in the photo, their number is already a lot and the big ones need to be harvested for the small ones to grow also.
Using a bolo, I dig around it since it's hard to take it off from the soil even if it's not that deep but it's roots are already many and long. With the help of it, it became easy to pull off.
While checking for the ones to be harvested, I also took the opportunity to clean their surroundings since it can hinder their growth and also in order to prevent the bad work (spraying strong herbicide including the taroos so it dies in no time) of one of our neighbor here in happening.
Plus I also get the small ones to be planted again in the open space. In this way their number will multiply fast. They will serve as a parent once again.
I planted it the designated place for them and as I gather more I noticed a creature that's been sun bathing haha. It enjoys the sun and no matter how I shake the part where it rest, no effect.
After taking a photo of it, I noticed that the dark clouds are gathering within the mountains already so I immediately wash the taros and we go home because for sure it will rain.
When we arrived here, I showed the taros to my grandma and she was amazed how healthy they are. I took a photo also and look at those stems. It's just indicating that they are doing good in their place. After it, I prepared it to be cook later on by me.
This afternoon I saw the seeds that my grandma sowed the other day that they're already sprouted so I took the initiative to put them on a container, for them to grow better.
As usual I used an organic soil and rice hull then filled the plastic cups. Take note also that those cups were recycled and it all thanks to my cousin who collected it from their school when she's having her recess.
I finished it in just a few minutes so I took a little check up on my other plants. So here they are.
The chinese cabbage that's been on a bamboo pot has been in flowering stage already, some of them. If you zoom ito their flowers ,it's just so beautiful.
While my bitter gourd is doing well also so this day I took of it's shoots in order for it to grow more sideshoots. By doing this it will give me more vines that will bear fruits later on.
Also my chayote has climbed it's pole already and it's near at the top. I'm thinking to cut off it's shoots also for it to grow more shoots but I need to research first before executing it. If you have thoughts about it feel free to share it in comment section.
Also my eggplants that I sowed last week has been sprouted already and in just no time I will plant different variety of eggplant again in my garden.
Gonna need to prepare for it so yeah, that's what happpened today and thank you once again for reading.
Your support is much appreciated. Thank you and good day to all.
-Plant, plant and you'll survive.
