Time To Prepare The Garden
Today is the warmest day of the year so far with temperatures souring to 17 degrees C in my part of London. I have been planning to clean up my fruit and veg patches in the garden. First I have to see what's made it through the winter and what didn't. Also I need to remove all the overtly successful plants (also referred to as weeds) that have taken over the patches.
The first thing I noticed was that the onions have made it! Funny how they're the second most delicate plants I have, after tomatoes (which of course didn't make it), but they're the first to sprout and signal being alive and well.
Some of the berries never even stoped growing, having leaves right through winter. I wasn't surprised seeing those ones are already flowering, having healthy lush green leaves. The strawberries appear to also have made it. I can see what look like leaves of the strawberry plant struggling to push through the bushes of random shrubs. The wild ones, planted by birds years ago, have definitely survived. Maybe I should just let birds plant my berries from now on - just that their aim is a little random :)
All the vegetables are gone, apart from the aforementioned spring onions. I'd have to replant all of those. I may even try some new ones. I haven't actually decided for now. I just have to first get enough energy to clear the area and prepare the soil. Mind you, the soil looks really good and dark. A lot of rotten foliage and bird poop have enriched it with everything needed for another year of healthy plants.
Peace & Love,
Adé
