Slept for a few hours during the day. Woke up to an IGMS.
Communication's open to anybody in range of the station, so it's no surprise. What is odd was the content of this message:
"Anyone living in this station?"
Pirates don't ask if you're home.
"Who is this?"
And ever since the IPCP project was put aside, in favor of the ELPCP, most of the individuals moving to distant, uncolonized planets and moons are either dishonorable or not honorable.
"I've been working on asteroids all over the solar system. Passing by Europa i saw your station on my GPS and decided to check it out! I'll be there to say hello in a bit, if you agree."
"Affirmative. Swing on by."
A trick? A fellow engineers? Either way, i'll keep my S-20A loaded and attached to my leg, just in case.
"Chill, homey. No need to unholster that thing. Just looking for a change in scenery. Been working on another station, mining asteroids, but i miss gravity. I saw your station from orbit, and i thought i'd swing by; see if you have any work; if you need an extra pair of hands. Any work you need done?"
"As a matter of fact i do. I need to increase the lighting inside my station."
"Dude, let me hook you up! I can make this nifty spotlight, that constantly targets you, lighting you as you move around the station."
Spent the rest of the day talking to the drifter. Showed him around the station. How everything was set up.
Drifter crashed in the driller's cockpit. Next day, invited the drifter to work on Europa.
"You're pretty handy. You're welcome to take over a small station i have, not far from here, if you wanna stay on Europa. You can work there for how long you'd like. Maybe we work on some bigger projects in the future."
"Sounds cool!"
"Alright, let me show you to the station."
"Here it is. Deep inside the ground. First station i built, during my arriving here on Europa. Being constantly under fire, this is what i resorted to. Seems i pissed off some faction by grinding their abandoned settlement, for parts, when i arrived. It was abandoned, after all. Never thought they mind, but here we are! I've been attacked by drones ever since."
"Either way. i don't use this station. So, feel free to make use of it. It's up and running with all amenities, so make yourself at home. I gotta head out. Hope to work with you in the future."
"Will do. Thank you."
Headed back to the station after encountering the drifter. Don't know what to make of it. A helping hand? A pirate, out to gather information on my workings on Europa?
Only time will tell.
