The entry into the back yard at my daughter and son-in-law's house through the Arbor serves two purposes. Not only is it a delightful way to get to their backyard garden, it also keeps the dogs in the fenced-in area at the back of the house.
They had cut down several arborvitae trees out of the yard and used the trunks of the trees as poles to build the Arbor.
This gate was made out of some recycled boards that they had on hand, but after 10 years of being out in the weather it was beginning to fall apart and a new one was needed.
They had an old pallet, took that apart and used the wood to build this new gate that they designed themselves.
There was some discussion about leaving it unpainted, but in the end it was decided that since it was a sunburst design it should be painted in bright sunshiny colors.
As you can see in the video, Piper was the first to show them that there might be a flaw in their design!
Modifications were made and this is what the finished gate looks like!
It looks lovely and will keep Piper safe, too!
