Yesterday, I attended a monthly meetup for international entrepreneurs and people interested in starting their own business. It was organized by the entrepreneurship office at a local university, and the event is held in English so that people from abroad living in Germany can also participate. Every time, participants from various countries and regions come together.
Almost two weeks ago on my way back from Hive Fest, I had the idea of creating Hive stickers and introducing Hive at this meetup. I ordered the stickers right after I returned to Germany, while the excitement from Hive Fest was still fresh in my mind. Once the stickers arrived, I cut them out and got ready.
With my stickers in hand, I joined this month's meetup, which took place in a stylish co-working space in one of the city's high-rise buildings.
When I asked people I met that he/she knew about blockchain or cryptocurrency, some people said, “I’ve heard of it and I’m interested,” and others mentioned that they had already invested in some coins. I briefly explained Hive and handed out a few stickers. One person asked me, “Are you making your own coin?” and I had to explain, “No, no, coins are not issued by single person.” It wasn’t easy to explain the benefits of Hive in such a short time. I need to think more about how to introduce blockchain and cryptocurrency to people who aren’t familiar with it yet.
The organizer mentioned that if there’s enough interest in blockchain and cryptocurrency, we could organize a short session on the topic. That would be a great opportunity to talk about blockchain and cryptocurrency in general and introduce Hive as a gateway.
I walked home, thinking about how nice it would be to have such a session in the future.

昨日、地元の大学の起業家オフィスが主催する起業家や起業に興味を持っている人のための月次ミートアップがありました。外国からドイツに来ている人も参加できるように、英語でオーガナイズされていて、毎回いろいろな国や地域の人が毎回来ます。
Hive Festからの帰り道に、Hiveのステッカーを作りたいな、このミートアップHiveを紹介したいなと考えていました。ドイツに戻ってHive Festの興奮が冷めやらないうちにステッカーを作って注文しました。先日届いたものを切って準備万端。
ステッカーを持って、今回は市内の高層ビルにあるおしゃれなコワーキングで開催されたミートアップに参加してきました。
ブロックチェーンや暗号通貨について知っているか聞いてみると、「聞いたことはあって興味がある」という人がいて、「あれこれ買っているという人」も。そんな中でHiveのよさを短時間で説明するのは難しかったです。Hiveの概略を説明して、ステッカーを渡すと「あなたコインを作ってるの？」なんて聞かれて「違う違う。誰か特定の人が作っているものじゃないんだよ」と。まだブロックチェーンや暗号通貨を知らない人にどう話したらよいか考える必要がありそうです。
一つ収穫もあって、主催者が「もしブロックチェーンや暗号通貨に興味のある人が一定数いれば、1時間ほどのセッションをするのもありかもね」といってくれました。そんな機会があったら、ブロックチェーンや暗号通貨一般について触れて、その入り口としてのHiveを説明できていいななんて考えながら帰路に着いたのでした。
