Super High Then Super Low, Chiro, Paragliding Flight 93, VNA, MY HD DIED! - Tuesday

in #hive-1350839 days ago

Yesterday was split in half, the first half was stunning, amazing, out of this world awesome while the second half had me wanting to break everything in sight, scream in rage and frustration.

I got the boys to school then had my chiro appointment at 10am. It was SUPER needed as I had been up with my stupid face pain in the night and after the decompression I was on the massage table for about a half an hour then got the adjustment which did wonders! I felt MUCH better after.

We managed to get the sky to clear and I got my wing and harness loaded and I was on my way north to Chewelah to go paragliding.

Kim, Chris and I got to the launch about 12:15 and hung out and waited for the clouds to move off and the wind to turn more from the southwest.

The clouds were at about 4000ft and the wind was at about 12 to 15 mph.

RASP had said the best would be at 1pm and as I watched the clouds move off I noticed the streamers pointing correct just before 1 so I got my wing out and soon was off and in the air. It was an outstanding flight and I spent so much of it nearly stationary, not moving horizontally just vertically. There was numerous times I would point my wing into the wind and my ground speed would be almost zero but my vario was pinging as I went straight up.

At a few points I was about 500 feet above launch but managed to stay well above the ridge line for most of the flight. It took Kim quite a while to get off launch and he got about a 10 minute flight. I watched him going to the lz and got caught in a bad sink so I had to try and follow but got shut down and dumped out of the sky short of the lz.

My longest flight at Inkler's so far and my 2nd longest flight ever. I was able to head out by 2pm and was home by 2:30.

The drive home was super nice with very minimal traffic and I was heading back towards the clouds and dark.

It was rather gnarly looking the whole drive back.

Once home I had a bit before the boys got home and I was going through my flight data and video. I got my new antenna analyzer and have bit to learn about using it correctly. I'm looking forward to testing antennas that I have.

It was near 5pm and I went to try and access a file on my hd in my laptop and it was gone. The 1TB drive is dead. I have all the forensics apps and tons of programs to dig into drives but that does me NOTHING if none of my boxes will read the drive enough to list it as a drive. It has SOOOO much on it including the videos of my flight that hadn't been backed up yet. I have it backed up to our NAS but the last time was beginning of August so I am now missing 3 months worth of daily pics plus so much more.

I was ready to break everything around me. I'm still enraged by it but there is nothing I can do now except go to a data recovery service and pay for them to get the data off. It was a Seagate HDD so of course the arm is toast, and hopefully the platters are still good with no scratches... I will be getting a WD blue SSD 2TB to replace it with but REALLY REALLY need the data off it.

Oh yeah and then I saw the Hive price jumped and I OF COURSE I missed converting HBD to HIVE at the bottom. I am the WORST at trading, the absolute worst. I as bad at investing as gambling.

So today I take my drive to see if the data can be salvaged. I'll get the boys to school then this morning head to town to drop the drive off. I should wait until after I drop the drive to order the new one in case they have options or deals. It is to rain all day starting soon and I still need to get the tree to fall, PDC is on mid day, need to learn about using the VNA, and pray my data can be recovered.
