Last night I was listening to some songs of the band Guns and roses and I remembered that I recently started an illustration of Axel which I ruined by an irreparable mistake unfortunately, the songs reminded me of all this and gave me a little frustration, so I focused on the guitarist of the band Slash and his peculiar appearance and not to mention his great talent in playing the guitar. There is a very marked memory in my childhood with Axel and Slash in which they were on a poster and on the back was a picture of the baby God with a little almanac, it's funny now, the contrast of it all lol, I remember both artists were at a concert where the singer had underpants with the American flag stamped on them.
As I got a little older I became a fan of the band, even more so with the success of Terminator 2 and the rock genre, from Metallica, Aerosmith and many more. It has always struck me that these great artists are so iconic both for their talent and their very particular appearances, they are details that make them unforgettable. And Slash is one of them, he always looked so crazy to me with his thick hair and high top hat.
So I decided to create a simple illustration of this artist and it was a lot of fun to create it since I love working with scribbled strokes, bringing his hair to life was therapeutic, I got lost in it for quite a while, almost as if guided by the chords of his guitar.
The sketch was quite simple to achieve, really the highlight is her hair and hat, plus her glasses, the illustration is created almost entirely with scribbled strokes, there is certainly not much to explain here, although in the glasses I used two types of colors and a marker to give it a golden hue, the shadows are made with black pen.
To make the hat I worked a first layer with light blue color and then I applied the black pen, this to create shades, in the face I did something very similar, I made a first layer with graphite and then I added a bronze color, playing a little with the colors. I added some shadows to give a little volume in some areas.
To finish I added a final outline, here it didn't give too much work, it wasn't so necessary but I did it with great care not to overload the stroke, since there are some details that we don't want to overshadow. And that's how this super simple illustration turned out, thanks to your songs, also to my frustration for having ruined Axel's drawing and let's not forget the memories of my childhood poster. It's a very fun way to do this kind of work, as I've said on several occasions it brings a particular kind of smile to your face.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it, happy night everyone.
