The new life of my friend's caravan – Episode 1

in #hive-130560last year

Hello everyone, dear hivers!
In this post and the next one I want to tell you about a very interesting experience where I was a helper for a friend of mine.

This friend has an out-of-the-ordinary passion for camping. I think that this return to the "wild" without having too many rules coming from social contracts, makes him feel free and get back in touch with nature.

It may be a form of suggestion, but he says, that when he's camping everything slows down and takes on the rhythm of the surrounding nature, even the feelings are more real.

But let's come to us and the work I tackled.
It is an Elnag Ssuper Nevada 4 trailer, like the one in the picture

First I will briefly recount the vicissitudes of this caravan

The antecedent 2011

"What are these ants on the entrance?"
"Boh, I'll set a couple of traps now then when I'm free I'll see what to do."

Some time later...

Summer 2021

"Perfect, feet down, porch open, now all that's left is to fix the porch and make the beds and we're all set..."

MAY

My friend bends down to pick up some furnishings under the small bed and...kaboom: 15mm long ants!

Since my friend is sedentary in camping he can set it up himself and called me as a helper, and I certainly didn't back down!

Delirium!

As we proceed with the disassembly everything is completely gnawed away: pieces of wood reduced like slices of Swiss cheese!!!!!

Once all the furniture is removed, the wall is completely free: you just have to barely touch it that your hand goes inside...

Really, guys I've never seen such a thing

Let's start with removing the wall's wooden covers and ant-eaten styrofoam!

The wall demolition work also revealed issues in the portion of the wall up against the bathroom.

In addition to this rather heavy work completely off schedule, my friend "simply" wanted to renovate the environment by replacing the wallpaper that was dated 1984 (actually born earlier than me!).

In the end, the ants forced him to dismantle quite a bit of the wall... In fact, in the front, he had to dismantle the entire lower part of the wall (removal of the closing plywood and the Styrofoam used as insulation)

Some pictures of what happened

We'll stop here for today, we'll pick up next week that I'll tell you about the interior furniture and the changes made!

See you at the next step!
