You can always fix clothes

Hello, today I wanted to share some adjustments I made to my clothing item. I don't have a sewing machine and I don't have extra money to send it to a seamstress, so I did it myself.

And all this came about because I was going through my clothes and seeing which items I'm actually using and which ones I use less, because I wanted to be honest with myself and see if I could create outfits with those items or put them aside and donate them. This is when this corset came up that I bought online. I remember wearing it once and then I couldn't remember why I left it abandoned, so I had put together an outfit and I saw what the problem was.

When I was trying to put on an outfit I realized that something looked weird and it was that it was too big on me. I remember that when I bought it it said it was one size, I didn't give it any importance because it had a strap in the front to adjust it but I didn't count on the fact that the whole garment would be wide, even adjusting it as much as possible there was still a lot of space left, even my hand fit in there and if it weren't for the straps on my shoulders the corset would have fallen all the way to my hips. I definitely had to do something about it.

I decided to do something with the garment, but I had to do it right away because if I put it off it would probably end up back in the drawer. I changed my plans and started measuring and marking with something white everything that was left over. I didn't know how to do it very well but I tried. Here I saw that there was a difference of 18 cm, which is quite a lot. I am thin but I also have a small back. In the end I decided to take off 20 cm so I could use that part of the front of the garment to adjust it.

I don't know what fabric it was, I don't know the name, but it's quite soft, it's not hard, on one side it's imitation leather and on the other it's totally different. After cutting, I started sewing with black thread, first I detailed how the garment was sewn on other sides to guide me and so that it turned out quite similar. The good thing is that I have a sewing technique that my mother taught me that makes it look pretty good, that is, you can't tell it was done by hand, although obviously when you see the garment inside out it's a different story, the inside out it's not as clean a job as the front. The important thing here is to draw an imaginary line or you can even draw it and try to sew as straight as possible, otherwise it will look strange.

And just like magic, the garment turned out fine. Here are some pictures showing the leftover piece of fabric and how it looks now. Now it really turned out fine, the outfits will look a little better. Obviously, this day I didn't finish what I had planned, but it gave me an idea to transform other garments.
