Greetings to all, fellow creatives. It's been a while since I shared with you my last sculpture, a dragon sculpture to which I have two more dragons to make; however, today I felt inspired to make another sculpture.
You see, I previously made a Batman, a figure that fellow JCRodriguez challenged me to make. I saw it on the shelf and I don't know, I felt that I should try to make a collection with those figurines. That's how I decided to make the sculpture that I will present in this publication, a Superman.

Saludos a todos, compañeros creativos. Hace ya bastante tiempo que compartí con ustedes mi ultima escultura, una de un dragón a la que le debo hacer dos dragones más; sin embargo, hoy me sentía inspirado a hacer otra escultura.
Verán, anteriormente hice un Batman, una figura que me retó a hacer el compañero JCRodriguez. Lo vi en el estante y no sé, sentí que debía tratar de hacer una colección con esas figuritas. Fue así como decidí hacer la escultura que les presentaré en esta publicación, un Superman.
I had my plasticine in its box. But I had to take them out to sit down to make my figures, although for this one I only used pink, blue, yellow and red clay. In addition to the usual wires, some thread, silicone and the tools I always use, such as a knitting needle and tweezers to cut it.
Tenía guardadas mis plastilinas en su caja. Pero tuve que sacarlas para sentarme a hacer mis figuras, aunque para esta solo usé plastilina rosa, azul, amarillo y rojo. Además de los alambres de costumbre, un poco de hilo, silicón y las herramientas que siempre uso, como aguja de tejer y pinzas para cortarlo.
As always, I start with a skeleton for the figure. In this case I made it with a fairly broad chest. The support for the arms and neck are loose, so I used silicone and thread to attach them to the full support in the center.
Como siempre, comienzo con un esqueleto para la figura. En este caso la hice con el pecho bastante amplio. El soporte para los brazos y el cuello estan sueltos, así que usé el silicón y el hilo para unirlos al soporte completo del centro.
As soon as I finished the skeleton of my sculpture, I started to cover it with blue plasticine.
In the image below, on the left, you can see how I started to cover the torso and mold the right arm. I also left a space for the neck, which I covered with pink clay.
On the other hand, in the image on the right you can see how I added more clay on the left arm and molded its muscles.
Tan pronto terminé el esqueleto de mi escultura, comencé a cubrirla con plastilina azul.
En la imagen de abajo, a la izquieda, pueden ver cómo comencé a cubrir el torso y a moldear el brazo derecho. También dejé un espacio para el cuello, el cual cubrí con plastilina rosa.
Por otra parte, en la imagen de la derecha pueden ver cómo agregué más plastilina en el brazo izquierdo y moldeé sus músculos.

In the image below, you can see how I placed two plasticine spheres on the chest, for what would be the pectorals of our superman.
First I placed those spheres, then, with the help of a needle or a wooden stick, I smoothed the surface and gave it the shape of the pectorals.

The next step was to mold the legs. In the picture on the left you can see that I simply placed plasticine on the supports below, without giving it any shape.
Next I molded the leg muscles and all the remaining muscles of the torso.
Lo siguiente fue moldear las piernas. En la imagen de la izquierda pueden ver que simplemente coloqué plastilina sobre los soportes de abajo, sin darle ninguna forma.

How will this superman fly? Well, I made him a wire support that I should have made before, but I wasn't planning to do it that way but with another style; still, I was able to glue him to the foot, where I will use more plasticine to simulate that he is leaning on a rock.
¿Cómo volará este superman? Pues bien, le hice un soporte de alambre que debí hacer antes, pero no planeaba hacerlo así sino con otro estilo; aún así, pude pegarlo al pie, donde usaré más plastilina para simular que se está apoyando en una roca.
The plasticine I used was a mixture of all of them. I joined them together and mixed them until I got that neutral color, with which I covered the entire base.
In the image on the left you can see how I was covering the base with the plasticine and on the right how it was completely covered.
La plastilina que usé, fue una mezcla de todas. Las uní y las mezclé hasta que obtuvo ese color neutro, con el cual cubrí todo el sporte de la base.
En la imagen de la izquieda pueden ver cómo estaba cubriendo la base con la plastilina y a la derecha cómo quedó ya cubierta por completo.

I used the red clay for the boots and the underpants that superman wears on the outside. I simply covered the boot areas with red clay and molded it to the desired shape. I did the same with the waist area.
La plastilina roja la usé para las botas y los calzoncillos que superman usa por fuera. Simplemente cubrí las zonas de las botas con plastilina roja y la moldeé hasta lograr la forma deseada. Lo mismo hice con el área de la cintura.
Here is something very important, the cape. To give it "buoyancy", I made a support with a much softer, or thinner, wire than the one I used for the figure.
Once I had my support, I stretched red plasticine as if it were a pizza dough, until it was thin enough like a cloth. With this plasticine fabric I covered the whole support, making waves to simulate movement.
Acá algo muy importante, la capa. Para darle "flotabilidad", le hice un soporte con un alambre mucho más suave, o delgado, que el que usé para la figura.
Una vez que tenía mi soporte, estiré plastilina roja como si fuese una masa de pizza, hasta dejarla lo suficientemente delgada como una tela. Con esta tela de plastilina cubrí todo el soporte, haciendo ondas para simular movimiento.
Once the cape was ready, I nailed the two wires that were loose in the neck of superman and covered the holes where I nailed the support with plasticine.
In the images below you can see how the cape looked once it was in place.
Una vez lista la capa, clavé los dos alambres que quedaron sueltos en el cuello de superman y cubrí con plastilina los agujeros donde clavé el soporte.

I molded the fists with two small pieces of pink plasticine. The small pieces are elongated and rolled up like parchment, then with a needle or a wooden stick I created the shape of the fingers and knuckles.
I put both fists in place and used some blue plasticine to cover the doll.

Next was to make the S of superman. This was one of the most difficult parts and the one I liked the least of the figure. I did it about 5 times and this one you see in the pictures was the best one.
It is really difficult because of the size, plus my eyesight is not the best lately, I need glasses.
Lo siguiente fue hacer la S de superman. Esta fue una de las partes más difíciles y la que menos me gustó de la figura. La hice como 5 veces y esta que ven en las fotos fue la que mejor me quedó.
Es realmente difícil por el tamaño, además de que mi vista no es la mejor últimamente, necesito lentes.
For the face I made a sphere of pink plasticine and placed it on the neck, then I began to mold the features of the face, hair and bangs. A process that took me almost an hour, little more.
Para el rostro hice una esfera de plastilina rosa y la coloqué en el cuello, luego comencé a moldear las facciones del rostro, el cabello y el flequillo. Un proceso que me llevó casi una hora, poco más.
The base I made for the superman I imagined it with a rocky texture. How can this texture be made?
Easy, I took some rocks and simply hit the plasticine with these rocks, trying to apply this process in all the plasticine until I got the desired result.
La base que le hice al superman la imaginé con textura rocosa. ¿Cómo se puede hacer esta textura?
Fácil, yo tomé unas rocas y simplemente golpeé la plastilina con estas rocas, tratando de aplicar este proceso en toda la plastilina hasta lograr el resultado deseado.

This way the figure was finished, the next thing was to do the paint job. I used the dry brush technique to paint the base and give a much more realistic rocky finish.
For the body of superman I also used the dry brush technique to create a dirt effect all along the body of the figure.
De esta manera quedó terminada la figura, lo siguiente fue hacer el trabajo de pintura. Usé la técnica del pincel seco para pintar la base y dar un acabado rocoso mucho más realista.
Para el cuerpo de superman también usé la técnica del pincel seco para crear un efecto de suciedad a los largo de todo el cuerpo de la figura.
Well, this is how it was finished. I couldn't do it in one day, I would say it took me about a day and a half to finish the figure.

Since I had a batman figure, I dusted it off a bit and placed it next to the superman figure to create a sort of interesting diorama.
