It's my pleasure to share with you today the cutting and sewing process of this beautiful two piece outfit I recently made for my cousin, as a fashion designer and seamstress, I make different outfits for people and they all appreciate my work that people tends to ask who made the outfit for them, but when it comes to making outfit for myself, I find it very difficult to make, I hardly make dresses for myself, instead, I prefer making it for other people, not that I don't know how to, but the challenge is what to make for myself and the time it will take me to sew for myself is what I don't have, I got confronted by a friend who asked why I don't make outfit for myself and was like is there anything behind it I smiled and told I from now on, I will start making different outfits for myself but I start sharing my own outfit, let's quickly talked about the two piece outfit I made for my cousin.

My cousin got a job recently and decided to make some outfit for her new job, she contacted me when she got the job and we hurriedly made few outfit just for the time being, now is needed more as she has been wearing those I made for her since then, so she decided to make some more, she got the vintage material from the market and brought it to me, at first, she intend to make a short gown but I suggested she make a two piece outfit that will have a pant and a shirt top, she can either wear each of it separately with another matching colour that goes with the top or trousers. She agreed and I got started with the cutting and sewing process.

Cutting and sewing process

This is my first time making this, so it was first drafted out on a brown paper before being duplicated on the main fabric, I measured out the shoulder, chest, waist and hip measurement as well as the horizontal measurement with ease and seam allowance

On the front pattern, I added two inches for the placket for the button and button hole, it was sewn straight downward. The back pattern was cut on fold since it's a shirt. The neckline was sewn with a simple collar and finally, I cut out a basic sleeve and all the pieces were sewn together to give me a complete shirt.

The remaining fabric was used to cut out a simple palazzo trouser after drafting out the pattern on a brown paper as well. The pattern was placed on the main fabric to cut out same shape with seam allowance.

The front was placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back part, but with 2" on the crotch down to the hem line. As simple as this, the trousers were sewn together and I have a complete palazzo trouser with waist band.

It was neatly ironed and the outcome was looking really nice, I hope you love the beautiful outfit i made for my cousin.
