Making Natural Soap, Shampoo and Detergent With Lerak (Sapindus rarak)

Starting from the condition of my hair and skin which did not improve even though I bought expensive and recommended soap and shampoo. I chose to go back to nature, because I read an interesting article about the benefits of lerak. Known as seeds that can produce foam, just like the soap and shampoo you buy in various supermarkets.

I'm curious about lerak, called fruit saponin, its shape is similar to dates. You know, brown and dry dates. Because it's almost similar, I think the first time I saw it, I wanted to eat it. Unfortunately, I don't have a lerak tree at home, I think it would be very valuable for me now if I planted one, right?

The lerak I bought from the online shop was quite easy to get. Priced at $2 for 1 kg of lerak without seeds. Waiting for it to arrive home, because lerak is quite difficult to find in this city, so I bought the one on the island of Java. I immediately opened the lerak fruit and used it, but at first I was confused about how to process it into soap that could be used.

The texture of the lerak fruit that I received can actually be used straight away. However, it can only be used as a detergent, it will be difficult to use as bath soap or shampoo. If you use it as detergent, just put it in a cloth bag, then add water. Then the water will become a lot of soap scum. If you are making soap and shampoo, the first thing you do is boil and make the lerak seeds soft.

Usually I use 20 pieces of lerak for 2 liters of soap. It can be used for 2 to 3 weeks, which means I can save on soap and shampoo costs while using lerak. The 1 kg of lerak that I bought can be used to stock soap and shampoo for more than 3 months, even now I have only used half of the lerak that I bought 2 months ago.

Just boil the lerak with water until it boils, then wait overnight to cool the water. The water that has merged with the lerak will turn brown, the same as the water soaked in dates. Before putting it in bottles and storage containers, I like to squeeze it so that the extract from the lerak comes out thicker, so there will be more soap foam.

After squeezing and crushing the lerak fruit a little, it must be filtered, because I will make it into shampoo and detergent, so it doesn't stick to the hair and also the clothes being washed. I also wash it using a washing machine, because I'm afraid it will get stuck in the machine and make things worse for my old washing machine.

There are many reasons why I use lerak and have survived this far. because my skin started to get better after using it. Even after showering and washing your face, there is no dry feeling on your face and body. Hydrated from chemicals, without SLS and parabens which if used in the long term will damage the skin of the body, face and head.

I have a problem with dry skin, my skin is very prone to dryness, especially when the air is cold. It turned out that it was caused by hypothyroidism in me. Keeping it more elastic means using collagen and using natural ingredients. Besides, you know that I have diabetes, so I take better care of the health of my body's organs, including liver and kidney function which can be damaged due to long-term use of chemicals.

Deciding to use lerak is not an easy thing, even though there are lots of natural products out there that I can use. Making it yourself is a wise thing. Not only can you save money but also increase creativity. One thing that makes me really like using lerak is protecting nature for the better. Even though thousands of people use manufactured detergents, soap and shampoo and only I use lerak as the main ingredient in cleaning my body and clothes. At least my life is more mindful and that makes me very happy.

I think, we should tell the world that this lerak is very good as a cleanser. Nature always produces whatever humans need, so that everything is balanced. It's not difficult to make, in fact I think it's more difficult to buy soap, shampoo and detergent in the supermarket. You have to look for it on the shelf and pay at the cashier. Just boil and filter it, you can use lerak as the main ingredient for washing anything in your house.

See you the next time hive friends!
