Reusing Wax Melts To Make Emergency Candles

My father passed away two days ago. I’ve been trying to keep myself distracted and busy aside from my every day chores and seeing my clients. Among my new found crafts/distractions has been candle making. If anyone is going through a tough period please pick up a hobby and keep yourself distracted, it has been of immense help to me.

Who doesn’t like a great smelling home! I know I do and so I use wax melts in electric burners daily. I have a drawer full of different sounds depending what mood or season it is! However, as much as I enjoy using them I found disposing of such clean wax wasteful so I started to save the hard little wax pucks after the scent was gone.

After doing much research to see if wax melts were reusable after the scent was gone I came to the conclusion I could give them a second life as candles! Granted the scent would be very mellow and mixing colors will give you different hues but as emergency or decorative candles it was a cheap alternative I could not pass up!
All you need is a heat proof glass container or jar, a dedicated pot for melting wax, wicks as well as the stuff you use to stick the wicks to the bottom and something to hold the wicks steady.

I cleaned and prepared a glass jar for my candle.

I melted all the wax melts over low heat on my stove.

I proceeded to adhere the wicks securely to the bottom of my jar and used chopsticks to steady them as the aluminum wick holders I had weren’t long enough for a candle this size.

I poured the wax carefully into the jar.

After pouring it, I let it set for two hours.

All done! All that was left to do was cut the wicks and leave about a quarter of an inch from the wax base.
