This is the continuation of the block work I posted in my previous post, the four couches was filled with mass concrete to serve as a retaining wall and today two couches of block was laid

{NOTE:::. the two blocks laid and the four couches blocks that was filled with mass concrete is a very strong block which is different from the other 6 brown blocks laid. Trust the process}

What is Bonding in laying a block work?

  Bonding is a process of arranging block with mortar to tie or bond them together. Without proper bonding in between blocks, it’s illegible to construct the wall.

Stretcher bond is applied here

Walls constructed with stretcher bonds are not stable enough to stand alone in case of longer span and height. Thus they then need supporting structure such as block masonry columns at regular intervals like 6-7 blocks straight then you will insert a column.

We have different types of Bonds in Block Masonry Wall which are

  • Stretcher Bond.
  • Header bond.
  • English bond.
  • Flemish bond.

We used a stretcher bonds here.

Block masonry work is completed by placing side by side and one on another with mortar to create a bond between them.
