Making a Tic Tac Toe With Wool.

in #hive-1279112 years ago

Keeping an open mind is one thing I've learnt on my journey as a crocheter. After I finished my last project which was a mesh top, I didn't have any other thing in mind to create until a friend of mine paid me a visit.

Friday happened to be her birthday and she came over to the house. As she got settled, the first question she asked was "do you have games of any kind?". And as expected, "no" was my response. It was a bit disheartening to think that I didn't have any form of physical game and so I thought of a means to salvage the situation and that too, very fast.

With the spare yarn that was laying around, I decided to make a tic tac toe. The idea of making a tic tac toe with wool seemed very absurd and utterly vague at first because how do I even start?. I sketched a little picture of how my tic tac toe was going to look like and from there I got to work.

Materials

  • A yarn of any colour
  • Crocheting hook
  • Crocheting needle
  • A pair of scissors

When I began, it felt like I was going to finish the tic tac toe in less than an hour but three hours later, I was still making the board (I haven't gained enough speed yet). I couldn't finish the tic tac toe on Friday but I eventually finished it yesterday, Sunday. It took me three days to make a square and little circles;one can only imagine(^^).

Amidst the strive, I was really excited as I was able to bring my thoughts to life with a yarn and a crocheting hook. Sensational.

After making the plain board with red yarn, I made a chain of about 70 stitches and then I started the demarcation. Honestly, the demarcation was the part that gave me the most headache. Imagine trying to make 9 boxes with a single line; I had to twist and turn and in the end it came out looking okay.

Making the "X" and "O" was very fun as it didn't take a lot of time. I started off with the plain little red circles..

And then, I used white yarn to inscribe the "X" and the "O". This was the last part of the project. After making the last "O", I heaved a sigh of relief as I admired my work.

At the rear end, I made a little rectangle to store the store the circular pieces of the tic tac toe

Now, I can proudly say a "yes" whenever a friend asks if I have a physical game. The colour red and white makes the whole project look like a Christmas present but I digress.

The final result

So, what do you think of the tic tac toe? Would you willingly want to play a game with it? Or you'd pass? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

With love, wongi ✨

Jack of all trades! I hail thee my lady.

Thou indeed has done a great thing as I can't wait to be at your place and put my sticky fingers to work(it'll only be sticky when it has to do with this crochet)😉

BTW, this is beautiful. I see Doreen is really teaching you things 😂

😂😂😂My tic tac toe brought out the Shakespeare in you.

You know Doreen is into making dresses, I'm actually into accessories and random stuff so I'm on my own😅 nonetheless, she was a great help when i was learning the basics.

Now I'm wondering who'll teach me the basics too. I have yarn at home but don't know what to do. Have watched YouTube videos on how to go about it but I keep missing a spot and it ruins my crochet 🤧. Hope you'll be ready to teach me? With lots of patience actually 😂😂😂

Oh I will be willing. I would summon all the patience i can get just for my wildflower. Do you have the hook too?
