Crochet Corset Belt.

Greetings needlework lovers✨

It's another start of the week and a time to go out and make the most of your day. When the realisation that today is Monday hit me, I couldn't help but feel sad for a moment, I mean, who likes Mondays? But then I remembered that I was going to be wearing(rocking) one of the most recently crocheted items and this immediately put a smile on my face.

For years on end, buying a pair of pants that actually fits my waist properly has been a very hard thing to do. You may wonder why? Isn't it as easy as walking into a mall and picking up something the sizes you? This isn't the case with me.

If given the choice, I would always, always pick free and loose garments over tight ones. But the problem with loose garments and pants is that their waists never seem to be my size. They are always bigger than me, so I'm always left with the option of using belts on them.

At some point, I stopped wearing normal jeans trousers and was always in boyfriend jeans because they had smaller waist and were also loose. However, when I got the inspiration to make a corset kind of belt, I immediately jumped on it.

I went on Pinterest to get ideas for a corset belt and the things I saw there were just so amazing. In the end, I settled for an option that I was sure I would be able to make.

From there, I got to work. First of all I measured the weight of my waist and subtracted 6 inches from it which gave me 19. This was the number I worked with.

I made a chain of twenty-five for the length since I was going to be working lengthwise. After making the chain, I turned over and started making single crochet stitches into each chain. From row three, I started decreasing. One row of decrease and one row without decrease. I alternated.

When I got to the tenth row, I stopped decreasing and just continued making the single crochet stitches till I got to the other end.

At the other end, I started making increases to match the initial decreases I made.

After this, I made the loopholes. The holes in which I was going to pass my fastening rope through. I made five holes on each side and ten in total.

After making the loopholes, it was time to make the rope itself. I didn't count the number of chains but in the end, I measured it with tape and it showed 40 inches. The essence is to make a rope that isn't too long or too short. Just something that would fit well in the holes and can be tied.

After making the rope courtesy of a trick doreenarch showed me, I was done with every part of the belt and it was now time to couple everything.

I went ahead to create the zigzag pattern with the ropes and tried it on afterwards. I may have just made my second favourite crochet item; after the heart motif granny square bag of course.

The completion of this belt came with a feeling of fulfilment. Now I get to put the belt on my oversized t-shirts and tops and still look presentable or :stunning' like the super star @tengolotodo would say.

I would love to hear your reviews on the belt. Would you like to have something like this in your closet? Or would you like to see a female acquaintance of yours wearing this?

Oh, this is because It's a corset and corsets are supposed to tight. So I took off six inches so as to get the proper tightness.

Ps: it's really nice to have you around once again 🌼

Oh I see now

Nice to be around again, have a great week:)
