This is the 2nd little dino I've felted and I am sold on the idea of creating more. The recipient has lovingly named him Fernandez and adores him.
First off I started out by folding up a ripped old cotton dress shirt and sewing it into the “bones” of the dinosaur. Shaping out a cartoon style long neck brontosaurus. Using something as filling allows less wool to be used (ie. less money) and also stops me from poking my fingers as much.
I put in a couple loose stiches to hold it all together.
Using white wool loosely layered on, I felted with the largest needles to start. Starting to create the body of the lil dino. Than moving to add on little bits of colour as the base.
Followed with a coloured layer and started sizing down to medium needles. Belly colour added, and some polkadots.
A little bit more wool added to the nose to give him a bigger snout.
All the face details are added and some pokadots felted in with small needles. Continued to poke the dinosaur tighter and tighter, emphasizing the parts I wanted to have more depth and shape.
Both of the dinos have a heart shaped polkdot on them.
