Hi, guys! How are you all doing? These days, I like to devote my time to small projects in between the big ones, so after my striped top, I decided to crochet something dainty.
I made crochet scrunchies!
I think I need to mention that until recently, I’ve never really fancied crochet scrunchies because the ones I’d seen didn’t look stylish to me. I hadn’t seen a lot, but my perception of crochet scrunchies was already formed so I never searched for inspo on the internet and they didn’t come my way. 😅I know you’re waiting to hear about how I had a change of heart! Well, I was doing my daily walk on the streets of Pinterest and stumbled on these cute scrunchies that gave me a change of heart at once! I liked how the ruffles were. They were different from the ruffles I was used to seeing on crochet scrunchies before that made me not like them. What I thought at once was “I need some of these!” 😊So I fished out some yarn and whipped out my 4mm hook.
To make these scrunchies, you’ll need an elastic band. Luckily, I had lots at home.
I’d have preferred to use the bands that are the same colours as the yarn or at least close, but I had to work with what I had.
The first step is to chain over the band in single crochets until you’ve comoletely covered it. And the stitches should be tight so the band doesn’t easily show underneath the yarn.
To begin the next step, you chain 2, then put two double crochets in the same stitch. For the other stitches, you put 3 double crochets in them. You’ll go round till you reach where you started. At that point, all you have to do is slip stitch to the 2nd chain on that chain 2 stitch you did at the beginning. Voila, your scrunchie is all done!
It’s that easy, guys!
I went ahead to make another one in cream. This time, I did 4 single crochets in each stitch. It gave it more ruffles which was still cute, and it made it bigger too, but I preferred the first one.
Don’t they look cute!
I tried them on and my next-door neighbour saw and now wants to buy in different colours🤗
Which do you prefer — the pink one with smaller ruffles or the cream one with bigger ruffles?
