Greetings my dear NeedleWorkMonday friends, I hope this day has been a great and wonderful Needle Monday for all of you.
Although a little late, due to some power failures in my city, today I come to share with you my contribution to the new contest of our beautiful community, in which we are invited to elaborate a project for our pets.
As I always clarify, this is not a valid participation for the contest, it is simply my contribution to the activities of the community.
Well, before I share my project with you, let me introduce you to the main character. This is my beloved Giorno, my children's cat. Giorno came into our lives just a year ago and I can tell you that since then we have all learned a lot with him. It is worth mentioning that Giorno has been the best therapy I could have had to overcome my fear of cats. I never imagined that I could feel as much affection for a cat as Giorno inspires in me, but that's a bit of a long story for this post.
What I do want to tell you is that Giorno is a very intelligent and affectionate cat. He used to be a very energetic cat and always liked to sleep in high places. A little more than a month ago he suffered a bad fall that caused a strong injury in one of his back legs and since then he has been treated for pain which makes him a calmer and lazier cat.
Since he can no longer climb or jump, he spends most of his time in his bed or on the floor; he loves to lie on any rag he finds or steals from somewhere.
That's why I thought of making him his own mat so he can lie down and take his nap.
This rug is made from small granny squares. All the grannies are knitted with natural colored raw pabilo yarn and with scraps of yarn of different colors.
The first thing I did was to knit all the squares and then join them together with a wool needle and pabilo yarn.
Once all the grannys were joined together, the next thing I did was to knit a two-loop border in single crochet stitches.
Lastly, I thought of adding a foami base to make the mat firmer and more resistant.
When the mat was finished, the most important step was to show it to Giorno and see if he would like it. I must say that at first he didn't pay attention to it, but after a few minutes he came over to sniff it and lay down near the mat for a long time. I think we need to give him time to get used to it and decide to sleep on his new mat.
Saludos y bendiciones.
For my part I must say that I loved this experience of dedicating a project to one of the pets in my house because these animals are part of the family and always give us wonderful moments. Thank you @lauramica for this beautiful contest.
I say goodbye wishing much success to all the participants of the contest.
Greetings and blessings.
