Hello, hello my dear and appreciated friends and colleagues of NeedleWorkMonday, I wish you an excellent week.
In today's post I would like to talk to you about a virtue that is very necessary for us crafters: Patience. Today I will tell you a little about how crochet has helped me to cultivate this beautiful virtue.
Most people who know me agree that I am a very patient person. They say so because that is what they perceive through my speech and actions. In the same way, one of the virtues that accompanies me in my work as a teacher of children and adolescents is precisely patience.
However, this great gift is not something that accompanies me in all situations of daily life. There are situations in which impatience wins the battle a little. All this is due to the fact that I am a person who needs to occupy and make the most of the time available. Very recently I was able to discover that this condition is called "chronopathy".
For me, wasting time causes me a lot of anxiety, hence I have the peculiarity of trying to do two things at the same time.
This condition has been with me for as long as I can remember, but it peaked during my university years. At that time I studied two careers at the same time and took a large number of courses, trainings and extracurricular activities in order to be able to cover as many busy hours as possible. There was a time when I was forced to take a break for health reasons. It was a time when I didn't know what to do with so much free time, as I had to be resting. At that time I learned about the wonderful art of knitting.
Learning to knit took me some time because I did it in a self-taught way, with the help of some crochet magazines. The whole process allowed me to learn to cultivate patience, since crochet requires patience and concentration. Since then, crochet has been in my life as my favorite therapy and has helped me a lot.
For some weeks now I have been going to the dental office to treat a bruxism problem that has been bothering me. In these consultations I have had to wait for several hours to be attended since there are many patients in the morning hours. In my first appointments, the wait was quite uncomfortable and caused me a lot of stress, because I felt I was wasting valuable time sitting there just looking at my cell phone.
Today I decided to go prepared and take my knitting materials with me to calm my anxiety a little bit. Well, I can tell you that it turned out great, because the waiting time seemed shorter and because I was able to enter the consultation much more relaxed. That is why I can tell you with great conviction that crochet is a wonderful therapy.
Me encantó compartir esta anécdota con ustedes. Muchas por leer, saludos y bendiciones.
In the pictures I show you what I was knitting and what I was able to advance for my next project. I came back very happy and relaxed as I felt I was able to make the most of the time doing a much needed errand and at the same time advancing my project for this week.
I loved sharing this anecdote with you. Many thanks for reading, greetings and blessings.
