Dear NeddleWorkMonday friends, I send you my warmest regards. Today I would like to share with you some thoughts as I show you mat number 5 of my most recent project which consists of weaving mini mats following charts and patterns.
For many years now I have used crochet and prayer as a saving grace in the most adverse and difficult situations of my life. Prayer helps me to trust, to have faith and hope, but for me it has never been easy to wait and do nothing. Although most people who know me define me as a very patient person, in reality I am a very anxious person, my mind never rests and that is something difficult to control, but not impossible.
My favorite motto is: “Patience is active”, that means that while we wait there is always something we can do. And that's where crochet and prayer come into play. Crochet keeps me busy and prayer keeps me serene. These two actions have helped me a lot, even in the most everyday things like waiting to be served at the bank, at a doctor's office or on a road trip. Doing something while waiting for something to happen makes me feel like I am making the most of my time and the waiting becomes more bearable.
It is not always possible for me to take my knitting materials everywhere, so I take advantage of those moments of waiting to pray, to give thanks, to look for inspiration for new projects on the web, to send messages to people I don't greet because I don't have time, I try to do things I usually don't do because of lack of time and this helps me a lot to relax.
Doing creative things, especially arts and crafts are an excellent therapy to channel anxiety, so if you have not yet decided on any needlecraft in this community you will find the motivation you need. In my case I like crochet the most, but sewing, embroidery and everything that allows us to create beautiful things produces wellbeing and harmony. Thanks for reading, greetings and blessings.
