Blessed day friends and fellow artisans of this beautiful community. I hope you had a beautiful and productive day. On my part I continue with my project of weaving some fruits and vegetables. This time I share with you some nice apples that I was knitting this afternoon.
I am excited about this project, as I am learning new patterns. I've been looking for references on Pinterest and YouTube, to my surprise I've found some pretty simple patterns. For now I'm starting with flat designs, but I don't rule out the idea of knitting some vegetables in amigurumi shapes, since I've seen them and they look super cute to me.
For this project I'm using 2mm macramé yarn which has been wonderful because it gives a lot of firmness to each piece.
These apples are very fast and easy to knit. They are formed with only two rounds of double crochet and some half stitches in the part where the stem and the lower part of the apple should go.
The first round is made up of 20 double crochet stitches.
The second row starts with a single crochet, a half stitch and then 7 groups of 2 double crochets in the same chain.
Then you knit a half stitch, a single crochet and repeat the previous sequence until you get back to the beginning where you knit the stem and the leaf.
So far I've found the cherries and apples very easy to knit, but I'm very curious to see if the other fruits will continue to be easy to knit or will pose more of a challenge. Tell me if you have knitted fruits and vegetables before, and which one has been the most complex.
For now I'll say goodbye until a next crochet work post. Thanks for reading, greetings and blessings 🤗.
